We all had a blast at the Grade 2 Sleep In.
First we set up our beds with some help from the adults, then we enjoyed spending time with our families engaging in a range of activities and had a BBQ for dinner. After our families left, we went for a walk around the Beaufort Lake and played a game of Spotto. When we got back to school we were so hot, but that was soon fixed with an icy pole! We acted out for Mrs Rush some of the things we found on our game of Spotto, followed by a dance party. Then we got into our Pj's and enjoyed some fresh popcorn and a movie. By the end of the movie, we were all quite sleepy and most of us were able to nod right off to sleep. In the morning, we ate our breakfast, cleaned up our belongings and even had time for a play on the big kids playground before pick up at 9:00am.
A very BIG thank you to Maddy's dad, Mark, for all his help with our sleep in. Mark brought the APEX BBQ for us, helped cook our dinner and even stayed to help the teachers!

In Literacy, we have been busy creating our Persuasive Essays. We have learnt about the structure of a persuasive text and explored some persuasive language features. Our topics were:
1) Cats or dogs, which is better.
2) A letter to Mrs Rush asking for a week of casual clothes.
3) Beaufort should have a fast food restaurant. (Dear KFC, Dear McDonalds, ect)
Congratulations to Isla who has passed 200 nights of home reading & Ruby G who has passed 100 nights home reading! Amazing work girls!
In Numeracy, we have also been hard at work showing all that we have learned this year in the areas of Number & Algebra, Statistics & Probability and Measurement & Geometry. Alongside our assessment tasks, we have had the opportunity to explore an engaging range of digital and physical mathematics resources and activities designed to deepen our mathematical understanding.
In Integrated Studies, we are continuing to explore our unit entitled 'Through Generations: Importance of Connections'. The students are learning about the sequences of events and the language we use to describe time in the past, present and future tense. We are looking forward to sharing our object from the past to the class in a few weeks time.
Here are a few snapshots that show our lesson that involved designing and ordering events in a sequence.
Bonus: We had some chicks from the Glenton family come to visit for Show & Tell last Thursday. How cute!
