Italian Week

Monday:  The Grand Kick-off

The week started with a bang, featuring the musical talents of Mr. Accordion Man during both Senior School and Junior School lunchtimes. The charming melodies of the accordion transported students and staff straight to the heart of Italy.

Tuesday:  Fun and Italian Sport

Next was the thrilling Giro scooter race during Senior School recess, where students showcased their scooter skills however the staff came away with the win. And of course, what's Italian Week without gelato? A Gelato cart was on-site from Tuesday to Thursday, serving up delectable Italian ice cream with two vegan and gluten-free options.

Students tested their knowledge in PCG with the ‘Guess the Famous Italian’ quiz and unleashed their soccer prowess at the Soccer Penalty Shootout in Centenary Park. With esteemed staff players including Mr Black, Mr de Klerk, Miss Ietto, Mr Kriszyk, and Mr Jesson as goalkeeper, and student players like Sebastian, Anton, Marcus, Jamie, and Joshua as goalkeeper, the competition was fierce however the staff came away with another win.

Wednesday:  More Fun and Italian Flavours

Wednesday kicked off with the Junior School Giro scooter race, ensuring our younger students also get a taste of the excitement and the students defeated the staff for another year. If you have an insatiable appetite, the Pasta Eating Competition in the Senior School brought a crowd with Alex (Year 11) coming away with the win. The Gelato cart was open at lunchtime once more to satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth.

Thursday:  A Feast for the Senses

In the spirit of Italian art, students tested their knowledge in PCG "Guess the Italian Artwork" challenge. Thursday is all about indulgence. Enjoying mouthwatering pizza from the Pizza van during lunchtime for both Senior School and Junior School students. Students got into the spirit of Italy as the iconic Mario and Luigi were back (Mrs. Knapman and Mrs. Rosso). The Gelato cart and Arancini and Pasta van were here for more delicious treats, and we can’t forget the Italian Cars display during lunchtime.

Friday:  Music to our Ears

Friday concluded the week of festivities, with Year 4 students singing Ciao Bella at the Junior School Assembly. The boys have been learning about the history of the song and practicing it since last term, and they gave a rousing rendition of this passionate anthem!

Italian Week is an opportunity for our school community to come together and celebrate the rich culture, food, and traditions of Italy. We are grateful to all the students and staff who participated and enjoyed the various activities and delicacies offered during this exciting week.

Grazie mille Prof Knapman and Prof Rosso.
