Ms Brea Terris

Dear Families,

I hope everyone got to enjoy the Cup Day weekend with friends and family. Staff were at school focussing on assessment and reporting leading up to writing end of year reports for students.

2024 Booklists

Last Thursday families received the 2024 booklists and curriculum contributions, please read this information in full.

In 2024 we are requesting parents purchase the educational items for students to own. We have sourced the equipment from Campion. Resources can be purchased through the portal.

Please note in the past the school has purchased these on behalf of parents. This is a change to the way we are doing things. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask at the office.

Community Events

I would like to say a huge thank you to all of our families and community members who attended our events over the past few weeks. These events were amazing!! It was so nice to have families back in the school. I think the slime was highlight!!

Over $6000 was raised!

Wellbeing Placements for 2024

This time of year, we continue to plan for the 2024 school year. If you have any requests related to your child's wellbeing, please email them to brea.terris@education.vic.gov.au Please note we do not take individual requests for teachers. Please ensure you email these to me by 20th November.

We understand that at times families may move for a range of reasons. If you think you may not be attending SHNPS next year, please email us as this will help support us with planning for 2024.

Remembrance Day

Thank you to our students who represented the school on Saturday at the service in town.

The Student leaders laid a wreath.

Congratulations to Xavier Hampton who was awarded the RSL award. He received money towards his schooling in 2024. Xavier also read a poem at the service. Xavier will be presented with this at assembly in the coming weeks.

Prep Transition

Our Prep transition program begins this Friday. We are looking forward to seeing our 2024 Preps. If you know any students who may be interested in attending next year encourage them to come along.

SUPPORT YOUR CHILD’S EDUCATION WITH 12 MONTHS FREE INTERNET AT HOME

The Australian Government has established the School Student Broadband Initiative to provide free home internet for one year for up to 30,000 eligible families with school-aged students.

How the School Student Broadband Initiative can help your child

Children who can access online learning at home as part of their education are more likely to engage in classroom activities.

Eligibility

To be eligible, families must:

· have a child living at home enrolled in an Australian school in 2023

· not have an active National Broadband Network internet service at their home* (having a mobile internet service does not affect eligibility)

· live in a premises that can access the National Broadband Network through a standard connection. NBN Co will check this for you after you apply

The one-year period will start from the day your service is activated with your chosen provider. At the end of the one-year period, you will not be placed onto a paid service by your internet provider without your consent. The Australian Government is considering options beyond the one-year free period.

How to apply

· Ask your school for a copy of the School Student Broadband Initiative consent form.

· Complete the consent form and return to the school.
