こんにちは (Konnichiwa) to all our Japanese language enthusiasts! It's time for another update on the exciting happenings in our Japanese program.

Virtual Exchange with Oyamagaoka Elementary School

Levels 3 and 4 students had a fantastic opportunity to engage in a Virtual Exchange with Oyamagaoka Elementary School in Machida City, Tokyo, Japan. The Virtual Exchange has been a great success! Leading up to the exchange, our students dedicated themselves to learning Jikoshoukai (self-introduction) in Japanese. When the day arrived, they confidently introduced themselves in Japanese to the students in Japan, who, in turn, introduced themselves in English. The cultural exchange didn't stop there! Students had the chance to ask each other questions and even played the classic Jan-ken-pon (Paper, Scissors, Rock) game. It's worth mentioning that some students were understandably nervous before the exchange, but their smiles and excitement afterward were evidence of their fantastic growth. Well done to all the students for making the most of this incredible experience! We look forward to more exchanges with Oyamagaoka Elementary School later this term.

Introducing "Chiisai Sensei"

At the beginning of Term 3, students in Level 2-6 embarked on a new learning adventure with "Chiisai Sensei" (small teacher). One student per week takes the lead at the beginning of each lesson. Their responsibilities include chanting our Mission Statement, taking attendance, and engaging in a short conversation – all conducted in Japanese. This initiative has provided students with a fun opportunity to exhibit qualities such as Growth, Leadership, and Respect within the first 10 minutes of their lessons. We are immensely proud to see students take on this role with confidence and enthusiasm. Congratulations to all the students who have served as our "Chiisai Sensei" so far! As our students continue to excel in their Japanese language journey, we can't wait to see what other exciting opportunities and experiences lie ahead. Stay tuned for more updates and adventures in the world of Japanese language learning. ありがとう (Arigatou) for your dedication and hard work!
