Remembrance Day

 

Today, Friday, 10th November, 2023 at 11am St Anthony's School community stopped  to commemorate Remembrance Day.  We took the time to commemorate, celebrate and pray for our fallen soliders and all who serve to protect our country and our freedom, past and present.  In a time of conflict around the world it is important for us to reflect  on all who served and continue to serve for their country.  

 

Athletics' Day

On the 24th of November we look forward to an exciting day as we have our Whole School House Athletics at Duncan Mackinnon Athletics Reserve.

 

Buses will pick up children at school at 9.00am sharp. 

 

Track Programs begins the day’s events.

400 metres = all Year 3 to 6 children. 

200 metres = all Year 3 to 6 children

100 metres = all Year 3 to 6 children. 

70 metres = all Year 1 and 2 children. 

50 metres = all Prep children.

 

Field Events rotations follows  for all Year 3 to 6 children.  4 x 30 minute rotations at Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump, Vortex throwing.  At the same time, Junior children will be playing Tabloid Games in the infield of the track. Final track events will see all Year 3 to 6 children complete in a mixed house team 4 x 100 metre relays. 

 

Pack up and presentations will take place and then children will return to school on the bus. Parents who attend may take their child home from the event but must notify the classroom teacher before the day via Operoo. The permission form with further information will be posted on Operoo next week.

 

All parents and friends are very welcome to attend and support the house teams. Parent helpers during the day would be much appreciated, please contact your child’s classroom teacher if you are able to assist us with the setting up and running of events.

 

Victorian Chess Championship 

Congratulations to Neev, Nav, Samuel, Jordan and Neorah who played at the Victorian Chess Final yesterday.  They represented our school and the team was placed 13th out of 28 schools from around the state who were competing. In individual rankings Neev (Yr 6) placed 15th out of 195 competitiors. 

 

Wedding Congratulations

On behalf of the school I wish Mr Tim O'Mahoney and his fiancée Chloe our sincere best wishes that their wedding this Saturday brings them a lifetime of love and happiness. 

The Year 3/4 students and parents happily hosted a pre-wedding afternoon tea on Wednesday.

 

Prep Orientation 2024

Our 2024 Preps begin their Orientation sessions next Thursday 16th November.  I am happy to announce that their classroom teachers for 2024 are Mrs Sarah O'Hara (Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday) and Mrs Emma Clausen (Thursday & Friday).  Our Preps will enjoy becoming more familiar with their surrounding and will also have an opportunity to meet their Year 6 "Buddies" during this time.  We welcome them to our St Anthony's Family.

Traffic Safety

Drop off and pick up times are always busy times on the road, however, the safety of children, parents and the public are of utmost importance. Please use the crossing when parking on the opposite side of the school and coming to collect your children, and always adhere to the speed limit.

 

Curriculum Day 

Tuesday 28th November is our curriculum planning day for 2024.  This will allow all staff to review the curriculum and then plan for 2024.  This is a school closure day for students. Please note that OHSC will be available.

 

Carols' Evening

All families are invited to come along on Monday 11th December to be part of our traditional carols evening.  This is an opportunity to gather together for a picnic dinner on The Green and join the students as they present to you  carols and popular Christmas songs.  The evening will start at 6.30pm and the PFA will also provide their support.  More information will come out in the next few weeks.
