From The Principal
PRINCIPALS MESSAGE
We are rapidly approaching the end of the school year and are now in full swing of preparing for end of year activities and next year at Hamlyn Views. We continue our extensive staff recruitment program and are close to finalising all staffing needs for 2024.
Student Free Days - November
Our teachers undertook report writing, review of student’s assessments and Individual Education Plans, and prepared for upcoming Student Support Group meetings during recent Student Free Days. Our Education Support staff took the opportunity to visit different specialist schools on the Friday and completed a First Aid course or their annual CPR update on the Monday. The Student Free dates for 2024 are included with the newsletter. Please note the Teacher Common Professional Practice that will be a Student Free Day on Tuesday 5th November, 2024.
Step-Up Day
On Tuesday 12th December our school will participate in the state-wide Step-Up Day. Students will move to their 2024 class for a time with classmates along with their new staff, where possible. Class placement information with be shared with families via a social story. Most of our new teachers will attend for a full day of Induction on Friday 8th December.
Blackwood Outdoor Education Camp
Year 9 students and staff Marty (Camp Leader), Claire, Margaret, Ruby and Abhi enjoyed a fantastic 3-day camp to Blackwood last week. Tania also visited the group on day two and joined in the fun activities.
School Art Show
On Wednesday 29th November after school we will be holding our first on-site Art Show where families and friends can drop-in and view student art work created across the year. Thanks to Visual Arts teacher Mara Howlett for coordinating this event. Going forward we plan to hold bi-annual Art Shows and School Concerts, alternating each year.
Online Christmas Raffle
Our Christmas Raffle is open and has an amazing range of prices for our community to win thanks to parent and community organisation donations. Many thanks to the Fundraising Committee, Diana Duffy in particular, who worked tirelessly securing donations and organising this year’s raffle. Thanks also to Lisa and Carolyn for their support with the raffle set-up. If you are still to buy tickets, you need to be in it, to win it!
