Recognition Path Workshop
Our First Nations students recently enjoyed a unique workshop with Yorta Yorta artist and Reservoir High School alumni, Peter Hood. The workshop's goal was to create a series of designs for ceramic tiles to be installed along the 'Recognition Path,' linking A Block to the new B Block building, a vital component of the new landscaping design.
What made this workshop truly exciting is that these tiles will become a lasting fixture at Reservoir High School for many decades, offering our students a wonderful opportunity to make a lasting impact.
Peter Hood was joined by our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Program Leader, Stephanie Swain, Tom Jackson, our Koorie Engagement Officer and Tracy Sarroff, Art Teacher, all of whom provided guidance to our students for inspiration gathering and design making on the topic of cultural identity and nature.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to Peter Hood for his fantastic involvement and contribution. We eagerly anticipate the drying and bisque firing of the tiles, followed by the application of copper oxide to enhance their designs.
