Careers Report

UNIQ YOU: LAUNCH-Yr 9-12 Female Students.

This week we launched the start of a programme called Uniq You which  seeks to connect female students from Reservoir High School and teachers with women working in STEAM and Vocational Education and Training roles and industries through personalised and engaging career advisory video calls. Twenty three students heard from an emergency fire services person and a project engineer as they came through to us from Queensland.

Reservoir High School was fortunate to receive sponsorship from businesses and we look forward to running this programme all the way through 2024 as we get students in touch with female role models in a range of mostly male dominated industries. Uniq You will be providing pathway advice that will complement what we already offer here through the Careers Programme and we are hoping to empower girls to explore and consider new and unique opportunities in a range of areas that they might not have previously considered.

Real Industry Job Interviews - Year 11 VCE VM

Real Industry Job Interviews is a work readiness program that assists students in developing job search, resume writing and interviewing skills. This program is for young people in Darebin, Moreland and Yarra, as an initiative of the Inner Northern Youth Employment Taskforce. After preparing, by completing their packs that included resume, cover letter, selected job advertisement and with a previous opportunity to be interviewed by Paul from the Sporting Globe Bar and Grill, the Year 11 VCE VM travelled to the Darebin Arts and Entertainment Centre to be interviewed by an industry employer. All agreed that the experience had increased their confidence and that they felt better prepared in seeking employment opportunities.
