Around the Houses

Gandhi House

Gandhi House has shown remarkable dedication and talent in gearing up for the eagerly awaited Sync Swim competition which takes place early next year. The choreography team, working tirelessly since last term, have crafted an exquisite blend of moves and music, showcasing their creative prowess. This week during Extended PCG, Gandhi Dance Squad had the opportunity to impart their finely tuned routine to the rest of the House. The session was a resounding success, setting a new personal best for a first training session.

Impressively, they managed to cover over 90 seconds of their nearly three-minute performance in a single lesson, a testament to the team's leadership and hard work. For context, it’s typical to complete 20-30 seconds of progress on a good first session. All of Gandhi House displayed an excellent attitude, with participants exhibiting smooth moves and the same team spirit that we are proud to share with the school. I look forward to sharing our hard work in the Interhouse Swimming Carnival next year where I am sure you will see our spectacular performance!

In Week 8, we will see the final House Week of the year, the stakes couldn't be higher for all three Houses. With the outcome likely to determine this year's Champion House and the prestigious House Cup, every participant and every event counts. Your participation could be the crucial difference that leads Gandhi House to victory! Let's unite and show our strength in this exciting finale to the year.

Lincoln House

It is once again time for the whole school to slip on its proverbial dancing shoes (or in this case, flippers) as we begin rehearsals in preparation for next year’s annual major event, Sync Swim. Our Lincoln team has been hard at work choreographing the dance and mixing the music and I would like to thank them for all of their time and effort - it’s a big project.

The House banded together on the roof for our first practice session, which went swimmingly. I hope everyone at home is practicing whenever they can in order for us to continue our winning streak from Battle of the Bands earlier this semester.

In Week 8, our final competitive event for the year ‘Term Four – House Week’ will begin.

There will be another chess competition to crown our final chess champion for the year, Just Dance and Soccer. I encourage all of our Lincoln students to put together a team and participate in an event in a last push for those precious House points!

Mandela House

Only three weeks until the end of Term. Time has truly flown, and it has been a blast!

This week our Sync Swim routines started during Extended PCG. I would just like to thank the incredible students of Mandela House fro Year 7 to Year 11 who have been practicing for weeks to come up with an original routine for the whole House to follow. It takes a lot of time and dedication during students’ own recess, lunch, and after school time. We as a House are immensely proud of what you have come up with and how you all have led the House so far. Keep it up! Well done also to all students of Mandela House for getting involved and having a great time. We have a title to defend!

Last week Ms Hewitt’s PCG (M6), battled it out with Ms de Witt’s PCG (M2) on Level 4 with a Kahoot during our morning House Meeting to decide the tie breaker and win the overall best PCG Competition. Well done to them. They get their name etched in the PCG Trophy and get a pizza party. We have a few weeks left of games, so Mandela PCG’s there is one more Pizza Party up for grabs. Good luck.

Last week it was also great to meet our new Year 7s for next year. We are looking forward to welcoming you into our St George’s and Mandela House family next year.

Finally, we have our final House Week for the term starting in Week 8. I encourage all students to participate and try their best, as this House Week will likely be the decider for the House Cup, which has been neck and neck this year. The House Cup will be announced and presented at Presentation Night by Mr Hardman. We have got this Mandela, good luck!
