Year 7 & 8

Year 6s in Science
Year 6s in Science

A big thank you to our wonderful Year 7 and 8 students for their understanding and support with accommodating the incoming 96 2024 Year 7 students during their Transition Days. Our current students demonstrated a welcoming approach across the two days and took the many room changes, relief teachers and limited access to the rooftop and Level 2 in their stride. A testament to the significant progress that has been made this year. Thank You!

As they settled back into a regular routine this week, our thoughts turned to final assessment tasks for the year. Our students are encouraged to see these tasks as an opportunity to demonstrate their academic progress and effort, rather than something to be anxious about. Manage your time wisely, prepare yourself adequately, do your best and the rest will take care of itself.

Despite the rapidly approaching end to the academic year there is still a lot to look forward to for these two cohorts, including a Mathematics excursion to Curtin University, Chinese Language Dim Sum lunch, Academic Awards Assembly, Carols at the Cathedral and our new initiative of Activities Week or the Festival of Learning in Week 9.

Hang in there Year 7s and 8s. We’re almost there!

Head of Year 7 & 8

Year 9 & 10

Good luck to all the Year 10s as they start their Semester 2 exams next Tuesday. The students will begin with their English Examination followed by Humanities, Science and Mathematics. The students are only required to be at school during their exam times but all Year 10 students must attend school on the Monday 20 November. Normal schooling will resume for the Year 10 students on Monday 27th November. Exams periods can be stressful times for students, and it is important to recognise that sleep plays an important role in recovery and recharging our mental wellbeing. I encourage all of the Year 10s to ensure they get to bed early and sleep well in preparation for these examinations.

For our Year 9s the time has finally come for our highly anticipated camp at Forest Edge in Waroona. Abseiling, Kayaking, Flying Fox, and Raft Building are some of the exciting activities that are in store for the students. Students, please take a careful look at what is required to bring on camp and start your packing early so that you do not forget anything. Reminder that no Phones are to be brought on camp unless a conversation has been had with Mr Sloan.

With three weeks left of the year it is important that all students and families stay safe during this busy time of year and look after yourself and others. If students are having trouble or are finding things tough remember that your teachers are always there to help you out and my door is always open for students wishing for my support and guidance.

Mr Conrad Sloan
