Co-curricular fun
Archery, Chess, Jewellery Club and more...
Whether it’s archery, art, music or sailing, junior and senior students are enjoying before and after-school opportunities for co-curricular fun.
In Term Four St George’s always runs an archery co-curricular, travelling by bus with our lovely Head of Health and PE Ms Scheele to Riley Oval at UWA where Mary, from Archery-To-Go, imparts her knowledge and provides all the equipment. “Students make rapid progress under the guidance of Mary’s expertise,’’ Ms Scheele says.
Chess Club is a place enthusiasts gather to compete in the timeless challenge. Run by the effervescent Ms Tagore, the club provides a welcoming space for players of all skill levels, from novices eager to learn the fundamentals to seasoned grandmasters seeking challenging opponents. “We have friendly matches, fostering an environment that encourages camaraderie and the exchange of strategic insights,’’ Ms Tagore says. “Whether you're a casual player or a dedicated competitor, the Chess Club is the perfect place to sharpen your skills, share your passion for the game, and enjoy each move on the chessboard.’’
Also very popular is Jewellery Club, with 24 students in it this term with the dynamic duo or Miss Higgins and Ms Jonas. “It is a lovely little community of students, who are all very passionate and creative,’’ Miss Higgins says.
Run Club on Wednesday mornings and Friday Morning Fitness draws students up to Kings Park with our very own fitness fanatic Miss Perejmibida. “Our Run Club students are making the most of the saying Win the Morning, Win the Day”, Miss Perejmibida says.
“The weather and location has been incredible for our morning running sessions and it has been an excellent way to start a Wednesday.”
Other co-curricular activities include Sailing on the Swan with the ever positive Mr Dempers, God Squad with the delightful Fr Gift, Book Club and a host of music options – all of which can be found in the Term 4 Co-Curricular Handbook.
We encourage all of our students to get immersed in our co-curricular pursuits in 2024.
