Visual Expression

Focus on Photography

Our Year 10s strolled to the State Library, in Northbridge, to view this year’s Ilford Photographic Awards. This exhibition provided our students with an excellent opportunity to test out their understanding of the metalanguage of visual expression, by photographing the photographs.

The display showcased a range of talents, drawing across portraiture, animal, travel, nature, drone and wedding photography. Our students’ task involved photographing examples of key terminology such as shot type, framing, symbolism and leading.

I commend our students for their exemplary behaviour and also recommend the exhibition to anyone who pops into the city.
