Class Allocations 2024

As we plan for the 2024 school year, the class teachers will be organising class placements. Much time and effort will be placed into these decisions, with the teachers' knowledge of friendships and how their students work best in the classroom. Considerations are also made on new students to the College and student learning needs across the cohort, to support a balanced class in all areas.

We appreciate your trust in our expertise in forming our classes, which are prepared with thorough review and discussion with the Primary Teaching Staff. Whilst we understand parents may have requests for specific teachers or peer groups, this is not our process and would appreciate your understanding. Classes will be shared with our families in the new year, ahead of the 2024 school year. If you have any questions or concerns with this, please contact Mrs Fellowes.

Year 5 Entrepreneurship Fair – Friday 24 November

Chantal Carter, Head of Business, Entrepreneurship and Performance has been working with our Year 5 cohort on a Young Entrepreneurs Program. The students have formed small business enterprises and are busy working on generating a Christmas themed product or service for their Christmas Fair. All Primary students will be given opportunities to earn tokens to spend at the fair, on Friday 24 November. More details coming soon.

'myON' Digital Library

Open to Clayfield students until 20 December 2023

We have joined the Renaissance myON Summer Reads Challenge, which gives our students access to a digital library with over 6000 books. We will teach the students how to use the platform during their upcoming literacy lessons, and you are welcome to read with them as we embark on the long school holiday.

Books are categorised into Fiction, Non-fiction and Graphic novels and students can browse through multiple genres. They can also search through ‘recommended reads’, ‘popular books’, ‘because I like…’ or books in Spanish. Students may need some guidance to choose the right books – when you click on the title, a blue ‘info’ tab appears which gives details about the book and helps you to decide whether the book is suitable for your child. If they click on something a little too hard for them to read independently, consider reading it with them (there are some favourite classics on the platform, that you might enjoy re-reading!) or use the audio narration tool.

Students can also highlight unfamiliar words and look up the meaning in a dictionary tab. A blue bar at the bottom of the page shows when a reader has spent long enough on the page to have read it carefully, preventing students from flicking through without reading thoroughly. This can help you to see their progress through the book. At the end of reading, students can choose to rate the book and even write a review.

As the platform works on multiple devices, students can access their reading anywhere you have an internet connection! Happy Holiday Reading!
