Prep

Preps were very excited to begin learning Indonesian this semester and have been busy learning many new words. Each week they have been practising saying ‘Hello’ (Selamat pagi/siang) and ‘Good bye’ (Sampai jumpa!) to myself and each other. They have answered ‘What’s your name?, ‘How are you feeling?’, ‘How old are you?’ and ‘How many?’ They have enjoyed learning to count to 6 by participating in many games and activities. Last term the Preps celebrated Indonesian Independence Day by making the Indonesian flag.

Year 3 and 5

Year 3 and 5 students have been learning about sports, traditional games and hobbies and have made comparisons between Indonesia and Australia. In the week of Indonesian Independence Day, they played some of the games traditionally played on that day, such as a spoon and marble race and tug of war. Students have used new vocabulary to play games such as charades, bingo and to answer quizzes. They have also been practising being able to express their likes and dislikes of different sports and hobbies.
