Principal’s Report

 

2024 School Captains

It was my absolute pleasure at last night’s Year 11 Formal to announce our school captains for 2024. Congratulations to:

  • Keeley Begg
  • Lucy Russell
  • Gabby Hay
  • Murtaza Bandari

With such outstanding young people leading our school we are in very good hands.

 

At Belmont High School we continue celebrating our students who display excellent learning behaviours with our “Student of the Month” award. Student reports will be used to create a shortlist for teachers to consider against the below criteria:

  • Student shows exceptional application in class and overall effort towards their studies.
  • Student has a positive attitude towards learning, their classes and the school.
  • Student is always ready to learn by being in correct uniform, having all required materials and rarely needs to leave class.
  • Student may show some leadership qualities in the classroom.
  • Student’s academic performance is very good OR they have shown great growth in this area over time.

 

I’m pleased to announce the students of the month for October were:

Year 7 – Miranda Linton (7 Purple)

Year 8 – Rabhin O’Keif (8 Blue)

Year 9 – Flynn Rodwell (9 Blue)

Year 10 – Rebecca Pitt (10 Ebony)

Year 11 – Ava Masljak (11 Blue) 

 

Year 12 Early Commencement Program (ECP)

The Early Commencement Program (ECP) for the 2024 Year 12 students will be commencing next week and running for two weeks. This program provides the students an opportunity to commence their Year 12 studies early and will give them a head start on their learning for 2024. The following week sees our current Year 10 students complete a week of Year 11 ECP.

 

Victorian All Schools Track & Field Championships

We had students competing at the recent Victorian All Schools Track & Field Championships held at Lakeside Stadium in Melbourne. The championships ran over the last two weeks and saw the best athletes from all over Victoria compete to earn a spot on Team Vic at the upcoming National Championships.

 

Congratulations to both Evan Bainbridge and Finn Callachor who finished 1st & 2nd in the U15 100m Hurdles Final, with both boys booking their tickets to the National titles in Perth later in the year.

 

Other notable mentions:

Maks Callachor – 6th U15 100m Hurdles 

Poppy Nivarovich – 5th U17 3000m & 8th U17 1500m 

 

Also, in other sporting news a huge congratulations to Riley Peoples who has been selected to represent Victoria in the upcoming Australian Youth Baseball Championships. As a pitcher Riley has already made his senior debut at the club level and we wish him all the best at the championships.

 

Australian Mathematics Competition

In late Term 3 we ran the annual Australian Mathematics Competition. With more students than ever taking up the opportunity, it was terrific to see our students rise to the challenge and academically test themselves. Below are some of our standout performances:

Awards Evening

On Monday 18th December, we will be holding our annual Student Award Ceremony. This year, the event will be in the Gym at Belmont High School and will commence from 6.00pm. 

 

Invitations to the ceremony will be sent via a Compass Event.  Students receiving sponsored, recognition, subject and sport awards will receive an invitation in the coming weeks. Students receiving Excellence and Endeavour Awards will be notified once our final reporting cycle closes on or around the 8th of December. Year 12’s who will be receiving subject awards will be notified by phone once VCE results have been released. 

 

The event will be ticketed, and so all attendees must book tickets using the link or QR code shared on the invitation. If you have any queries, please contact our office on 5243 5355.

 

STUDENTS NOT ATTENDING BELMONT HIGH SCHOOL IN 2024

Could parents of 2023 Year 7 to Year 11 students who will NOT be attending Belmont High School in 2024, please notify the school as soon as possible. This information will help the school in planning for 2024.
