Celebrating a Fortnight of Achievements and Fun!

Dear Mitcham Primary School Families,

What an incredible fortnight it has been at Mitcham Primary School, filled with achievements, excitement, and unforgettable moments! As we reflect on the past two weeks, there's so much to celebrate and be proud of as a school community.

Grade 3-6 Swimming Program Makes a Splash!

First and foremost, let's give a round of applause to our fantastic Grade 3-6 students who participated in the swimming program. Over the past two weeks, they've not only conquered the waters but also demonstrated exceptional teamwork and perseverance. The swimming program has improved their water safety skills and has also instilled a sense of confidence that will undoubtedly stay with them for a lifetime. A special thank you to Ms Ellis and our dedicated teachers and for their hard work in making this program a resounding success.

We are excited for our Prep, Grade 1 and Grade 2 students who will start their fortnight of swimming on Monday.

Fabulous Friday Extravaganza!

Today is a day of festivities and joy as we host our Grade 1/2 Celebration Day, Disco and Grade 2 Sleepover. The Grade 1/2 students have been all smiles as they partake in a day filled with activities to celebrate their achievements and build lasting memories. The early evening disco promises to be a highlight, where they can showcase their dance moves and enjoy the company of their friends.

Meanwhile, our 2024 Prep students got a taste of the sports fun that awaits them in the coming years during this morning’s Prep Sports Transition Session. It was heartwarming to see their enthusiasm and eagerness as they took their first steps into the world of sports at Mitcham Primary School.

As the sun sets, the excitement continues with the Grade 2 Sleepover. The school are buzzing with laughter and excitement as students embark on a night filled with games, movies, and shared adventures. It's a wonderful opportunity for our younger students to bond and create lasting friendships, fostering a sense of camaraderie that will carry them through their years at Mitcham Primary School.

I would like to express our gratitude to the staff who have worked tirelessly to make today's events a success. Your dedication and support contribute immensely to the positive and vibrant atmosphere that defines Mitcham Primary School.

Diwali Celebrations

A summary of what Diwali means to us…written by sister and brother Araina (Grade 3) and Anhad K (Prep)

Diwali is a festival of light and happiness which is largely celebrated in India. The festival is related to Hindu religious beliefs as on this day Lord Ram returned home along with his wife Mata Sita and brother Lakshman. So, Hindus celebrate Diwali by lighting candles ad worshiping Shri Ram. Sikhs celebrate Diwali as Bandhi Shod Day. In India, Diwali is a most pious festival, which is celebrated by all Indians with enthusiasm, cheerfulness, and love. This is a festival of light, of knowledge, freedom, courage and spirituality.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to Araina and Anhad for enlightening us about the significance of Diwali, the Festival of Lights. Their insightful summary allows us to delve into the rich cultural tapestry of this special Indian celebration. As we approach the weekend, we extend warm wishes to all our families who celebrate Diwali. May your homes be filled with the radiant glow of diyas, the warmth of family and friends, and the joyous spirit that Diwali brings. May this festival mark the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil, and bring prosperity and happiness to your lives. Have a fabulous weekend of Diwali celebrations!

In closing, let's carry the spirit of celebration and unity into the coming weeks. Together, as a school community, we will continue to nurture and empower our students, creating an environment where every child can thrive.

Wishing you all a fantastic weekend ahead!

Warmly,

Erin
