A Good and Gracious God
Rebecca Hall, Executive Principal
As we come to the end of first term it is fitting that we pause to reflect on God’s goodness and give Him thanks. We serve a good and gracious God, and throughout this term we have seen His kindness displayed in countless ways.
We have much to be thankful for: the joy of community celebrations such as Welcome Fest and our Founders Day services; His protection over staff and students, especially the year groups who have been away on camps; the strong partnership between parents, staff and students; the many events in which our students have participated with energy and enthusiasm; and the achievements and holistic growth we have seen in our learners – academically, spiritually and personally.
It has been a joy for me to begin getting to know the Donvale Christian College community, I have valued the meetings I have been part of, the conversations shared and the opportunities to visit classes, carnivals, and assemblies. I am deeply grateful to God, and to you, the college community for the warm welcome I have received.
In all these circumstances, we give glory to God who is the source of every blessing. As James 1:17 reminds us “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows”. Jesus echoes this truth when He says, “If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!” (Matthew 7:11)
As we draw near to Easter, we are reminded that the greatest act of God’s goodness is demonstrated in the death of Jesus which reconciles us to God. Christ became sin for us so that we could be right with God. “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” 2 Corinthians 5:21.
And this salvation is not fragile or uncertain—it is firm, secure, and completely upheld by the finished work of Jesus. As the writer of Hebrews reminds us, “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure” (Hebrews 6:19).
Next week, our Primary and Secondary assemblies will give us a wonderful opportunity to celebrate Easter and reflect on the goodness of God together.
We are deeply grateful for your ongoing partnership as we walk alongside you in the Christian education of your children.
