"Learning is a treasure that will follow its owner everywhere." - Chinese Proverb
We have had a wonderful start to the term and it has been a pleasure to welcome our students back after the holidays. It has been especially pleasing to see how calm, settled and ready to learn they have returned. This positive transition has created a strong foundation for a successful term ahead.
At St Joseph’s, we continue to focus on what it means to be an effective learner through our Living Well, Learning Well framework. Being a learner is about more than just completing tasks, it’s about developing the attitudes and behaviours that support lifelong learning.
A learner at St Joseph’s is someone who:
Is part of a learning team by working collaboratively and recognising the value of others
Shows persistence by trying their best and continuing even when learning becomes challenging
Maintains focus and can quickly return to their learning when redirected
Respects the environment by ensuring their actions support, rather than disrupt the learning of others and the important work of staff
As we begin Term 2, we remind everyone of the strong emphasis we have at St Joseph's on being respectful learners who value both their own learning and the learning of those around them. In classrooms, students are encouraged to remain on task, minimise distractions and demonstrate respect for the rights of others to learn in a calm and supportive environment.
Every student has the right to work diligently and achieve their personal best without disruption. By fostering this shared understanding, we strengthen a culture of respect for ourselves, for others and for our school.
At St Joseph’s, we proudly celebrate student success each week through the presentation of two class awards. The Learning Well Award honours a student who has shown pleasing effort, perseverance or achievement in a nominated area of the curriculum. The Living Well Award recognises a student who exemplifies our school values through respectful behaviour, positive attitudes and outstanding citizenship.

‘Crunch & Learn’ is a time at the beginning of the school day where students have the opportunity to eat an extra serve of fruit or vegetables to support good health and help with learning.

Students simply bring a piece of fruit or serve of vegetables into the classroom to eat during the morning session, while continuing with their regular routine.
Please send your child to school each day with an extra piece of fruit or serve of vegetables to eat in the classroom. Something that can be easily taken into the room and eaten without causing too much mess is ideal, for example:
Please don’t send fruit or vegetable products (e.g. dried fruit, fruit straps, popcorn, fruit or vegetable breads), fruit in syrup or jelly or with artificial sweeteners, flavoured or marinated vegetables. Thank you for your supporting Crunch & Learn at St Joseph’s.
