Year 6 Sower Leadership Conference
Recently, our Year 6 student leaders from both campuses attended the Sower Leadership Conference - Where Faith and Leadership Grow. This was a valuable opportunity for our students to step outside the classroom and be inspired in their leadership journey.
Throughout the day, students heard from a range of speakers, connected with other student leaders from different schools, and were encouraged to ask questions and reflect on their own leadership. These experiences helped them to broaden their understanding and see the impact they can have within their own communities.
A key focus of the conference was developing a strong foundation of what it means to lead like Jesus. Students were challenged to lead with humility, courage, and a heart for serving others, and to recognise that their leadership can make a meaningful difference.
We are excited to see our student leaders take this learning into Term 2 and beyond, as they continue to grow in confidence and live out their leadership within our school community.
Thank you

Year 3/4 Happy Valley Reservoir Excursion
On Monday 23 March, the Year 3/4 classes went on an excursion to the SA Water Happy Valley Reservoir. This was to support our learning in Science and English about the water cycle, the importance of water, how we get our water and how water is treated to be safe to use.
We learnt the history of the reservoir, which was constructed to provide a safe place for water to be stored before treatment and use. We discovered that a lot of effort goes into getting water to our houses!
Jade, a Ranger at SA Water, conducted a scientific demonstration to show us how filtration works. Because the water she used was filtered very quickly, it wasn't safe to drink, but it definitely already looked better!
The Reservoir was beautiful and peaceful, with wide biodiversity on display. We saw a lot of animals - even some that we hadn't seen before and couldn't name!
A huge thanks to the parents who volunteered their time to accompany us.

The power of movement in and beyond our school
At Emmaus, we believe that sport and physical activity are more than just games. They are an essential part of learning and growing together. Participation in sport helps students develop teamwork, resilience, leadership, and respect, while also promoting lifelong habits of health and wellbeing.
This term, our students have continued to embrace a wide range of sporting opportunities, from PE lessons to lunchtime activities, such as Move for Mission. It has been wonderful to see so many students giving their best, supporting one another, and demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship.
Importantly, we are also seeing a growing number of families embracing physical activity outside of school hours. It has been especially pleasing to hear of families getting involved in community initiatives such as parkrun™, spending time at local playgrounds, riding bikes, and simply enjoying being active together. These moments not only support physical health but also strengthen family connections and overall wellbeing.
Research consistently highlights the importance of regular physical activity for children.
The World Health Organisation recommends that children engage in at least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity each day. Studies also show that children who are active outside of structured school time demonstrate improved mental health, better concentration in class, and stronger social skills. Unstructured play and family-based activity, in particular, have been linked to increased happiness, reduced stress, and improved long-term health outcomes.
As we look ahead, we are excited to build towards a busy schedule of interschool competitions next term, including Athletics, Soccer, and Cross-country. These events provide wonderful opportunities for students to challenge themselves, represent our school, and continue developing their skills and confidence.
As a school, we are proud to provide diverse opportunities for students to be active, but we know that the habits formed outside of school are just as important. Whether it’s a weekend parkrun™, a trip to the beach, a backyard kick of the ball, or an after-dinner walk, every bit of movement contributes to a healthier, happier child.
We celebrate the achievements of all our students, whether representing the school, improving personal fitness, or simply having a go at something new. Every effort counts, and every step matters.
Together, let’s continue to promote the value of physical activity, celebrate our students’ efforts, and build a culture where movement is a natural and joyful part of everyday life.

Community Easter Service Highlights
Last week, we gathered as a whole college to remember and reflect on our Lord's salvation, remembering His suffering on the cross, His death, and His victory over death and evil through His resurrection.
It was wonderful to see our ELC students, junior school students from both campuses, and secondary school students worshipping together, giving all the glory to our loving God, and celebrating Easter in unity.
We were pleased to welcome many of our families and neighbours to the service. Thank you to everyone who joined us!
Grandparents and Special Friends Day
In Week 9, we celebrated Grandparents and Special Friends’ Day at our Brooklyn Park Campus, and our hearts (and classrooms) are full.
The Junior School classes were full of fun vibes as students engaged their grandparents and special people in colouring, crafts, word searches, and classic board games.
The event concluded with a beautiful morning tea hosted in our library, allowing our special guest to mingle, connect and reflect on what grandchildren's relationship means to them.
Thank you to everyone who joined us on such a beautiful morning!
