A Time of Reflection: Easter at the ELC

Easter is a profound season of renewal not only as the cornerstone of our Christian faith but as a precious opportunity for communal connection. It is a time for coming together, reconnecting with those who have been distant, and resting in the presence of loved ones. Beyond the celebrations, the Easter period invites us into a moment of holy stillness. It calls us to reflect on the person of Jesus. His unwavering love, the selfless sacrifice He made, and the triumph of His resurrection. In our complex world, His love remains a vital anchor, providing our families with the peace and reassurance needed for their journeys.

Within the ELC, Easter is a season of pure wonder. Guided by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, we view our children as capable researchers of their own faith, and we have had the incredible privilege of sharing the Gospel with them. For some, this is their first encounter with the Easter story. It is truly beautiful to witness the classrooms "a-buzz" with discovery, punctuated by joyful shouts of "He is alive! He is risen!" as the children begin to grasp the magnitude of God’s grace.

In the spirit of the "100 Languages," our students have not merely listened to the Easter story; they have lived it through diverse expressions. Whether through clay, paint, drama, movement, or song, the children have used their many "languages" to explore, extend, and broaden their understanding of Christ’s journey. By honouring these multiple ways of knowing, we allow the Gospel to take root in their hearts in a way that is both personal and profound.

This sense of community extended beyond our classroom walls last Thursday when we joined the Emmaus Community at South Plympton. Participating in the Whole College Easter Service allowed our youngest learners to feel part of a much larger body of Christ, celebrating the death and resurrection of our Saviour together. The day also provided a grand physical adventure as we hopped onto the Emmaus Bus. For many of our three and four-year-olds, this was their very first bus ride, a milestone met with a hive of excitement and joy.

As we look back on these experiences, we are reminded of the beauty found in both the "shouts of praise" and the moments of quiet contemplation. We pray that as you read through these reflections, you too are encouraged by the simple, powerful truth of the Gospel.

We hope that your entire family found a sense of stillness and sacred reflection over the Easter break.

Grandparents & Special Friends Day

We enjoyed welcoming our Grandparents and special friends into our ELC. Together we decorated and planted "Memory Pots", filling them with soil and plants to take home and watch them grow!

It was a lovely time of intergenerational connection. Thanks to all the Grandparents and special friends who joined us!
