We are proud to celebrate the pathways of our 2025 Year 12 cohort.
Of our 25 graduates, 88% have moved into employment, training or further study, reflecting the strength of applied learning at Peter Lalor Secondary College.
Students have entered industries including engineering, building and construction, business and early childhood education and care, as well as further study at institutions such as RMIT University and William Angliss Institute.
These pathways are supported through the VCE Vocational Major, including VET and SWL programs that build practical skills and open up further training and employment opportunities.
We are proud of the way our students are stepping confidently into their futures.
Congratulations to Jamie Tsakmakis on securing a School-Based Apprenticeship (SBAT) in plumbing following the successful completion of a work trial. Jamie demonstrated a strong work ethic, reliability and a positive attitude throughout the process, leading to this fantastic opportunity.
School-Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBAT’s) at Peter Lalor Secondary College are supported through the Department of Education’s Head Start program, which assists students to connect with employers and undertake an apprenticeship or traineeship while completing their schooling.
Students interested in SBAT opportunities in 2026 are encouraged to speak with the Careers Team to explore their options and suitability for a referral to work with Head Start.
It has been a busy term for students to secure a Structured Work Placement that fits their aspirations for the future. Our students across Years 10, 11, and 12 have been engaging with their Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) placements as part of the VCE-VM program. This valuable hands-on experience helps students develop real-world skills, build confidence in the workplace, and explore potential career pathways. So far, we have had a reasonable success with some of our students securing a work placement for the remainder of Semester 1
Currently we have a number of students who are in the process of having an interview which hopefully turns into a successful work placement. Thank you to all the families and employers supporting our students on their SWL journey!
