The year 10’s have had a successful start to their senior studies in 2026. They have been able to work diligently to complete their studies throughout the term and ensure Peter Lalor secondary College has been a safe and happy environment for every individual.
Students have been able to participate with enthusiasm in various PDS tasks, whilst working hard to keep up with the high demands in Literacy, Numeracy and WRS.
The students took part in the garden project with enthusiasm, whilst demonstrating teamwork, communication, planning and metacognitive skills.

We had the opportunity to attend the Preston Market where students were able to expand their knowledge on inflation to compare prices between supermarket chains and local markets.
The students also had the opportunity to attend the Whittlesea Tech School, where they were able to use different technologies to take part in various activities.

The year 10’s will be able to showcase their harmony day projects on Tuesday, where they will be able to run many different activities with the school as well as run a BBQ for the school community.
Students have been able to work together to further develop their social skills and work together as a cohort to support each other during term 1. We are proud of their efforts thus far and wish them a successful year going forward.

As Term 1 draws to a close, our Year 11 students have embraced the challenges of senior study with enthusiasm, including the commencement of their VET courses, where they have already begun developing valuable practical skills.
Throughout the term, students have successfully completed their Safe@Work modules, equipping them with essential knowledge for workplace safety. They also participated in School Photo Day and enjoyed a meaningful excursion to the Immigration Museum, which enriched their understanding of Australia’s diverse cultural history.

In addition, students benefited from an informative incursion presented by Youth Law, gaining important insights into legal rights and responsibilities. As the term concludes, they are working towards completing and finalising their assessment tasks.
We congratulate all Year 11 students on their efforts so far and encourage them to take pride in their achievements this term.
Wishing everyone a safe and relaxing holiday break, and a very Happy Easter.
It has been a very positive and productive start to the year for our Year 12 students at Peter Lalor Secondary College. Students have settled well into their routines and are now working through the first Areas of Study as part of their VCE Vocational Major (VM). It has been pleasing to see students engaging with their learning, building their skills, and beginning to apply their knowledge in meaningful and vocational contexts.
As we move further into the term, I would like to reinforce the importance of regular school attendance. Consistent attendance is essential for success in the VCE VM, as it allows students to fully participate in class activities, develop their skills over time, and meet the requirements of each subject. We strongly encourage all students to attend every scheduled class and to communicate with the school if support is required.
A recent highlight for our Year 12 cohort was the excursion to the Queen Victoria Market in Melbourne. This experience supported key learning outcomes in Personal Development Skills (PDS), with students exploring real-world applications of budgeting, communication, teamwork, and decision-making. It was fantastic to see students representing the college positively while engaging with the wider community.
Students are also reminded of the importance of maintaining a full and balanced five-day program. This includes three days of VCE VM classes, one to two days of VET, and a day dedicated to Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) or a School-Based Apprenticeship or Traineeship (SBAT). This structure is designed to support both academic progress and the development of valuable workplace skills.
Looking ahead, it is important that students begin planning for their future beyond school. We encourage all students to start exploring potential pathways for 2027, including further education, training, or employment. Engaging with the Careers Team and participating in pathway discussions will ensure students are well-prepared to make informed decisions about their next steps.
We look forward to continuing to support our Year 12 students throughout the year and celebrating their progress and achievements.
