A note from Mr Jackson

No to Racism
We are deeply committed to ensuring that our school remains a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for every member of our community. Recently, we responded to two incidents in which racist language was used to cause harm to others. We want to be very clear that such behaviour is not acceptable in our school. We have a zero-tolerance stance on racism, and any actions that undermine the dignity and belonging of others will be addressed seriously and thoughtfully.
In response, members of our senior student group have engaged in focused conversations with school leadership. These discussions have centred on the impact of words, the importance of empathy, and the responsibility we all share in upholding our school values. While these moments are challenging, they also provide important opportunities for learning, reflection, and growth.
Encouragingly, a small group of students has taken positive action by coming together to plan and create a student-led video that promotes anti-racism and inclusion. This initiative reflects the kind of leadership and courage we aim to foster in our students. The video will be shared with our community early next term, and we look forward to the important message it will carry.
We take this opportunity to remind all members of our community of the importance of actively standing against racism in all its forms. Our school values of respect, inclusion, collaboration, and kindness must be evident not only in our actions, but also in our words. By working together as students, staff, and families, we can continue to build a culture where everyone feels safe, valued, and respected.

Scheduled Curriculum Day
Monday 20 April
Please note that Monday 20 April is a scheduled Curriculum Day and students are not required to attend school on this day.
Staff will be engaging in professional learning focused on building consistent and effective teaching practices across all classrooms. This work will include exploring strategies to further strengthen student engagement and support learning outcomes. Families may wish to make alternative care arrangements for this day or consider engaging with TheirCare.
The initial day of Term 2 for students is Tuesday 21 April.
Works Scheduled Over the Holidays
Over the holiday period, we are excited to see several significant improvements to our learning and play spaces.
The administration building will undergo important upgrades, including new floor coverings in the library, two classrooms, corridor, and visual arts space. Now that the building has been levelled, these enhancements will ensure our learning environments are welcoming, comfortable, and fit for purpose.
In addition, essential infrastructure works will take place. The damaged drainage system near the administration building and driveway will be replaced, including upgrades to stormwater pits and pipes. A new concrete pad will also be installed to provide a centralised space for rubbish and recycling.
We remain committed to maintaining and improving our facilities, as these investments benefit all members of our school community.
Celebrating Student Behaviour
We were delighted to celebrate the completion of our Values Puzzle. This achievement reflects the consistent demonstration of our school values: Respect, Inclusion, Collaboration, and Kindness.
Students earn puzzle pieces by collecting ten stamps, with each piece contributing to a whole-school display representing our shared commitment to positive behaviour.
To celebrate, students selected a range of enjoyable activities within their learning areas—families may have already heard about pyjama days, picnics, and more! These celebrations highlight and reinforce the behaviours that make our school community strong.
Student Leadership – National Young Leaders Day Friday 27 March
On Friday 27 March, our student leaders travelled into Melbourne to attend the National Young Leaders Day. This was a valuable opportunity to further develop their leadership skills as they contribute to shaping our school community.
Students heard from a range of inspiring and thought-provoking speakers, and we look forward to them sharing their reflections at this week’s assembly.
2027 Prep Information Morning

It was wonderful to welcome approximately 30 families to our first 2027 Prep Information Morning.

Families enjoyed a tour of the school and the opportunity to connect over a relaxed sausage sizzle.
A second 2027 Prep Information Morning will be held on Saturday 30 May from 9:30am to 11:30am. Booking details and further information are available via the school website.
Campfire Conversation Burns Brightly
Wednesday 1 April
First Nations students from our school joined peers from several neighbouring schools to participate in a meaningful cultural experience at the Barbunin Beek Gathering Space in Heidelberg.
Students learned Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung language, took part in a smoking ceremony, and engaged in a variety of creative activities including clay work, painting, and textile design. The day concluded with a shared meal and a strong sense of connection and community.
These termly events, led by the Barbunin Beek team in partnership with local schools, play an important role in deepening cultural understanding and supporting our students.
