YEAR 5

FROM THE TEAM
This week, our Year 5 students had an absolute blast taking part in the Colour Run. By the end, we were covered from head to toe in bright colours—and the excitement only grew when a few of our brave Year 5 teachers were well and truly slimed. Students also proudly presented their inquiry research projects on Australian history. They did a fantastic job and especially enjoyed stepping back in time to explore life during the Gold Rush era. We hope all our families enjoy a wonderful and relaxing holiday break and we look forward to seeing you in Term 2.
TERM 2 LEARNING
Next term, students will be crafting their own action narratives, learning how to advance a storyline through dialogue and strengthen their writing with powerful vocabulary. We will also begin exploring our new inquiry topic, Notable Australians, as students investigate the lives and contributions of influential figures. In Mathematics, our first week back we will focus on solving multiplication and division problems that involve finding unknown values. To support our literacy learning, students will take part in a brief author study on Morris Gleitzman, discovering what inspires his writing and why he is such a significant Australian storyteller.
