The Years 3–12 Cross Country Carnival was a fantastic day of energy, determination, and House spirit. With the rain holding off, conditions were ideal as students raced across the ASC Oval and surrounding areas. We commend all students who participated for their enthusiasm and effort, giving their best throughout the course.

Congratulations to Durack House, who were crowned overall champions and also claimed the Junior School Trophy. Well done to Stirling House on winning the Senior School Trophy, and to O’Connor House for being awarded the Team Spirit Trophy. Each House demonstrated outstanding commitment, encouragement and sportsmanship throughout the event.

Thank you to all staff, students and spectators who contributed to the success of the day and made this year’s Cross Country Carnival such a memorable occasion.

ACC Division B Swimming Carnival

Our students took to the pool on Thursday 26 March for the ACC Swimming Carnival and it was a truly exceptional day!  It was particularly pleasing to observe the high level of participation, effort, and commitment demonstrated by all students. The collective performance reflected great credit on the College.

While the team fell just short of first place, finishing only nine points behind, the overall result was highly commendable. This was highlighted by the achievement of three plaques in the following categories:

  • Junior Girls
  • Senior Boys
  • Overall Girls

Among the ACC carnivals attended over the past six years, this event stands out as one of the most successful and memorable for the College as a whole. This was made possible through the combined efforts of all involved, both in competition and in the encouragement and support shown throughout the day. Students should take pride in their performances and the standard they upheld.

For the Year 12 students, this occasion marked their final opportunity to represent the College in this setting. I hope that you were able to fully appreciate the experience and conclude your involvement with a strong sense of achievement and a lasting legacy.

Thank you to all students for fostering such a positive team environment and for their dedication and effort throughout the carnival. Thank you also to the staff whose organisation, preparation, and ongoing support were instrumental in ensuring the success of the event. Their efforts are sincerely appreciated.

We had so many amazing opportunities to take our Outdoor Education students out on some adventures last term.

The Year 12 Outdoor Education class recently completed a day hike at John Forrest National Park in preparation for their Cape to Cape expedition in May. It was a great learning experience for all, with students given the opportunity to practice hiking skills along with their briefings, leadership skills and communication.

The class did an outstanding job. A big thank you to Luc Latino (Class of 2021) for supporting this excursion.

The Year 9 and 10 Outdoor Education class had an unforgettable experience at the recent Outdoor Education camp on Rottnest Island. Over the course of the camp, students enjoyed snorkelling in various locations, bike riding around the island, and fishing, with plenty of fish caught along the way. The snorkelling sessions offered an amazing opportunity to see a wide variety of marine life up close, making it a highlight for many students. The camp was a fantastic chance for students to build skills, challenge themselves, and enjoy the outdoors together.

Hear from some of our students about their experience:

"My favourite moment of camp was after dinner looking at the stars and talking about the day with my friends on the oval next to the campsite. I felt at peace with the environment and connected with the people around me."

"One memory that I will take away from camp is snorkelling at The Basin, when we all saw so many fish and coral. It was hard to get into the water at first, due to how cold it was, but when we were all in the water, it was really cool to see the coral and fish that were down there. When I go back to Rottnest, I will be sure to visit this spot again."

"I will always remember snorkelling on the last morning of camp: the refreshing feeling of the cold water around you and knowing without words that the class around you is experiencing the same beauty of the ocean. Underneath the water was another world of so much life and colour that we were fortunate enough to spend time exploring."

String Day

Senior School string musicians took part in the College’s inaugural String Day at the beginning of the term. Throughout the day, sessions were led by ensemble directors as well as guest string musicians from West Australian Symphony Orchestra, West Australian Young Artists Chamber Music Program and The Perth Tango Lab. The event concluded with a wonderful showcase performance by each ensemble in the CPA. It was an inspiring way to begin Term 2 and a wonderful celebration of the College’s string program.
