Sydenham Campus
Principal Message
As we come to the end of another busy term we have great pleasure in celebrating all the wonderful activities and educational opportunities for students at the Sydenham campus.
This term has been all about settling into the new academic year, supporting students with their new classes and teachers and focussing on our campus goals.
We continue to showcase our College to our neighbouring primary schools and thank the principals and school leadership teams of both Hillside Primary and Taylors Hill Primary for welcoming us to assemblies. Our students are wonderful ambassadors for our school, our student cohort and their families.

Our students speak confidently and encouragingly to the grade 5 and 6 cohorts, they engage in welcoming conversations and they look great too!

Thank you to Ms Abby Malagoli (Sydenham Transition) for all her work in liaising, communicating and organising the school visits to our campus, and to the primary schools.
Our recent swimming carnival provided another great day of bringing the two junior campuses together in some friendly competition. Thank you to Ms Kylie Brookshaw (College Sport Leader) and Mr Liam Foley (Campus Sport Leader) for their work and organisation.

Discovery Evening is always a great way for families and grade 6 students to find out more of what our College has to offer. This year, the evening was extremely well attended and prospective enrolments had the chance to participate in a school tour, hear about our programs and experience Year 7 activities.

The evening was ably facilitated by our Campus Captains Julia Portelli and Haider Imran with the acknowledgement of country led by Mia Crisp our First Nations Student Leader.

A highlight of the evening was hearing two of our scholarship recipients Sara Gulapala and Ayken Cannolo speak about their experiences so far as current Year 7 students at Sydenham.

Thank you to Mr Atherton for leading the communication, preparation and organisation of the evening. Thank you also to all the staff and students who gave their time to showcase our wonderful campus.

Year 9 Challenge Day continues to provide students with experiential learning opportunities, both in exploring Melbourne’s history and geography and conquering physical challenges.
Students recently hosted wheelchair basketball as one of the events in the Challenge Day calendar.

Our Copperfield College Alumni continues to go from strength to strength. This term we have hosted an Alumni afternoon tea and school visits from Alumni during International Women’s Day celebrations. Year 10 Student Leaders Jenny Nguyen and Julia Portelli shared heartfelt observations of the female leaders at our campus whom they admire.

Thank you to Kuba Turan (Class of 2012) for sharing her thoughts and words of encouragement to our student leaders.

Year 7 and 9 students completed NAPLAN over the last 10 days, and we thank Mrs Karen Martin and Mr Ercan Hasip for their organisation of these assessments. Thank you also to Team Leaders, Ms Angelic Ferreira, Mr Adrian Azzopardi, Mrs Elizabeth Talevski and Mr Will Buttegieg for their assistance during the assessments.
We still have a few weeks of term to complete and there are many activities and milestones to celebrate. We have our Year 7 students departing for camp this week. Year 7 students are eagerly completing (competing!) tasks for the Golden Iron on Iron Form Day on Monday 30/03. We will be celebrating student achievements at our Campus Assembly in the final week of term and Family/Student/Teacher Interviews will take place on Wednesday April 1st from 12pm. Please see Compass news items for details on bookings and location of staff on campus.
Thank you to staff for their care, commitment and work over this term. We wish students and staff a restful term break and look forward to a great start to Term 2 on Monday April 20th.
