Principal Message

Kings Park Campus Term 1, March 2026

As we approach the end of Term 1 we would like to thank all members of staff for their endless support of our students at KP. We have received much feedback from students and families in relation to the calm and focussed year we have had to date. This would not be possible, of course, without the willingness and preparedness of students to engage in their learning and that of their peers. We very much look forward to Term 2 with excitement and enthusiasm, and the opportunities it will bring.

Discovery Evening: Last Tuesday. The event provided an excellent opportunity for prospective students (Grade 5 and 6) and their families to see the campus and hear about the wonderful opportunities that enrolling at Copperfield College- Kings Park Campus offers. The evening’s tag line was “there’s more to Copperfield than you know”. In addition to a formal presentation on the evening, we held practical ‘classes’ for students and families to enjoy. This included musical instruments, science experiments and the decoration of cup-cakes. We had the College Band (comprising students from all three campuses) and student leaders from the Kings Park and Delahey Campuses, including College Captains.

NAPLAN: Last week all Year 7 and 9 students completed NAPLAN.  There was a state-wide glitch in the morning that temporally closed NAPLAN testing. Even so, the behaviour of students was exemplary and we were so pleased with how smoothly the timetable operated.  NAPLAN assesses five learnings; reading, writing, spelling, grammar and punctuation, and numeracy. Well done to Monika and James, our Campus Leaders, for their work behind the scenes to ensure it was successful.

College Student Leadership Team:  Our Senior Student Leadership Team (College and Campus Captains) met last week to talk about what leadership is, the qualities of an effective leader and the impact the Team hopes to achieve in 2026. The time was also used to plan activities, across the College, from the commencement of Term 2.

International Women's Day: We acknowledged the day with a morning tea for all staff. To ensure as many female staff members as possible where able to attend, their various roles were covered (for example, yard duty and the General Office). Our guest speak was a previous student at the Kings Park Campus and she is currently a principal of a government school.

College Swimming Sports:

This was a huge success, not just because of the weather, with our students competing against each other. They also enjoyed free time on the water slide, water volleyball and inflatable during the afternoon.

Local Principal Meeting:

Our local Primary School Principals from the area enjoyed a morning tea and school tour of our amazing facilities at Kings Park. We used the valuable time to discuss the transition activities we have prepared for their Grage 5 and 6 students this term.

  • Student attendance is everyone's responsibility.

  • Building POSITIVE and RESPECTFUL relationships and connectedness within the school community.

  • Use data informed seating plans to provide a routine and safe learning environment

Buildings and Grounds

  • We have taken responsibility for the oval at Kings Park.
  • The Technology rooms have had split system air-conditioners installed.
  • New murals have been started today in the Staff Room area and the Music Building.
