Dear Parents and Guardians,
This week has been notably significant with the commencement of our School Review, an essential process that all schools undertake every four years to review and redevelop the School Strategic Plan. We had the pleasure of welcoming our School Reviewer, Greg McMahon, along with our School Council President, Phil Gourlay; Senior Education Improvement Leader, Andrew Ough; our two challenge partners, Jo Marshall and Fel Cua; and Sandra Luitjes as a critical friend. The review panel engaged with staff and students at Red Cliffs Secondary College and also had the opportunity to speak with the parents of our students. Throughout the week, the panel members visited classrooms, providing valuable insights and feedback. I want to extend my sincere thanks to the panel members for dedicating their time and to the students and parents who participated in the discussions.
I would also like to highlight our Year 9 into 10 Information Night, which took place on Monday, August 5th. It was wonderful to see many students and their families come to our school to explore our subject choices and offerings for 2025. Our Domain Leaders provided further details on Tuesday about individual subjects. I am pleased to note that many parents have already booked interviews for our upcoming Course Confirmation sessions.
On Thursday night, our Year 11 Theatre Studies class delivered an outstanding ensemble performance to family and friends. I want to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of Mr. O'Toole and all the staff who contributed to making the event a success. The students had the opportunity to hone their skills in various aspects of theatre production, including lighting, set design, costumes, and makeup. Congratulations to all the staff and students involved for their exceptional efforts and achievements.
This week we also had a series of short courses running at our school this week, including "Prepare to Work in the Construction Industry" (White Card), Barista Courses, Responsible Service of Alcohol, and First Aid. These courses are valuable for our senior students, offering them qualifications and insights that can aid in their career planning and provide a glimpse into various industries they are interested in.
As we approach the halfway mark of Term 3, I would like to extend my gratitude to parents, guardians, and community members for your continued support. Your involvement and commitment are deeply appreciated, especially in key events such as our Information Evenings, Course Confirmation Interviews and the recent School Review. Your engagement plays a crucial role in the success of these initiatives and in enhancing the overall educational experience for our students. Thank you for your ongoing dedication to our school community.
