We are 1/2N!
Last week, all students at Saint Francis Xavier participated in Kaboom Sports. The weather was glorious, sunny, and perfect for everyone to give sports their best shot. On the day, we were divided into 10 groups, each representing a different country. Students worked together, tried their best, and, above all, showed respect for others.
There were many fun activities for students to try. Some skills practised included throwing, weaving, jumping, dancing, swinging, rolling, and juggling! Well done to everyone in 1/2N for showing such great sportsmanship. I could not be prouder.
Leading up to the Olympics, we have been learning about our own families' cultures and histories. The rich diversity in 1/2N is something to be celebrated, and I can't wait to learn more about every student throughout the term.
The children are developing their understanding about the Olympics and will soon start forming connections between the Olympics and Paralympics. Every morning, we record the medal tally. This tally will help us to start forming connections to the data that we learn about in math and use in real-life applications.
On Friday, students will be bringing home a 'Celebrations in the Past' sheet to complete, along with some information about this activity. It would be wonderful if you could chat with your child about events you have commemorated in the past. I would greatly appreciate the sheet being returned by Friday, 9th August.
Bookings for Parent/Teacher meetings open tomorrow morning. I look forward to meeting with you to chat about your child's progress. You should have already received a notification with information about how to make a booking.
Thank you kindly,
Nicole
