PRINCIPAL'S REPORT
MRS MICHELLE HAEUSLER - PRINCIPAL
It has been a very exciting week for us at St Mary MacKillop College. On Monday we welcomed Mr Bo Kronberg to our school as a teacher of Science and Mathematics. Mr Kronberg has traveled from Sweden to work at our school and we are very happy that he has joined us.
On Tuesday the announcement was made that Mrs Catherine Howison has been appointed as the Principal of Marian College, Ararat, from January 2025. Although we will be sad to see Mrs Howison leave our school, this is a wonderful opportunity for her and an amazing reward for her many years of hard work and dedication to Catholic Education. There will certainly be more said, and time for us to give thanks and show our gratitude for Mrs Howison and Mr Howison before they leave at the end of the year.
Our students and staff involved in this year's school production of Legally Blonde have ramped up the rehearsals, honing their skills and committing lines to memory in time for the performances in August. The students will perform on Wednesday, 21st August to the staff, then on Friday 23rd August to all Year 7 to 10 students in a matinee at 11:30am. Opening night will be on Friday 23rd August at 7:00pm and finally a family friendly matinee on Sunday 25th August at 2:00pm.
Our school productions are always amazing and showcase the superb talents of so many of our students. The production staff, particularly the Producer, Talia Henderson, dedicate hours of their time to help our students learn and grow, and allow them to shine on stage, which is what they love. I encourage you to make sure you purchase tickets to this year’s show. Tickets are selling now. Don’t miss out.
The Enrolment Application date for on time applications has now passed. We will continue to accept enrolments and will offer places if places become available. We currently have a small number of places available at Year 9, 10, 11 and 12.
Lastly, you are probably not aware of the face behind our fortnightly newsletter. Ms Senay Uzal has been putting the newsletter together for a number of years. She has brought the newsletter into its current format and continued to adapt and change it to make it engaging for you. Sadly Senay will move onto new employment from 26th July, so this is her last newsletter. Thank you Senay for all that you have created and brought to our school community.
