Principal's Patch

Hello PBSS community,

This term has flown by, and with only three weeks left until the September holidays, it's hard to believe how quickly time has passed. It has been an incredible term, with the Paris Olympics being a major highlight that sparked much excitement and conversation throughout the school. We are especially proud to congratulate former Palm Beach State School student Arisa Trew on her outstanding achievement of winning a gold medal at the Paris Olympics! Arisa has made history as the youngest ever Australian Olympic gold medallist, and our school is absolutely thrilled and proud of her success. Her hard work and dedication are truly inspirational, and we celebrate this remarkable milestone with her. Congratulations, Arisa!

Staff Appreciation

In the spirit of acknowledging and celebrating the fantastic staff members at PBSS, we took to the playgrounds this week to interview our students on their favourite staff member and why:

Eisteddfod

I am thrilled to share the wonderful achievements of our school’s music ensembles at the recent Gold Coast Eisteddfod. Our students performed exceptionally well, showcasing their talent and hard work. A huge thank you to Mrs. Riordan, Miss Kesting, and Mrs. Chandler for their dedication and guidance in preparing our students for these performances. I’d also like to give a special mention to Mrs. Townshend, whose invaluable support ensured everything ran smoothly during each performance. Congratulations to all involved—your efforts have made our school incredibly proud!

Bike Safety

As we continue to prioritise the safety and well-being of everyone in our school community, I want to address an important issue concerning safety on our school grounds. Recently, there have been several near misses involving students and parents riding bikes, scooters, e-bikes, and e-scooters within the school premises. To ensure everyone's safety, we kindly ask that all students and parents dismount from their bikes, scooters, and e-scooters before entering the school grounds. Additionally, when leaving the school, please take extra care to watch out for others, especially our younger students who may be less aware of their surroundings. Your cooperation in reinforcing these safety measures is greatly appreciated. Let’s work together to maintain a safe environment for everyone.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter.

Book Week

Just a friendly reminder that next Wednesday is our much-anticipated Book Week Parade! This year's theme is "Reading is Magic," and we encourage all students to dress up as their favourite characters from books. It's a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the joy of reading and the creativity that comes with bringing beloved stories to life.

Families are asked to linethe pathways and enter the back of the PAC for the book week award presentation.  Prep-2 will parade along the pathway at 9am and Years 3-6 will parade along the pathway at 10am.  There will be a short Book Week assembly to award prizes in the hall after the parade. We can't wait to see the magical costumes and share in the excitement of this special event.
