Senior School Subject Expo

The Senior School Subject Expo was held last week. Aimed at students in Years 10 and 11, they were given the chance to discuss subject content with teachers, and courses and career ideas with external providers.

We would like to thank Wodonga TAFE, Defence Force Recruiting, Charles Sturt University, La Trobe University, Vail Resorts (Falls Creek, and Headstart for visiting our school. Also a big thank you to the MBSC staff for organising the external providers, providing information for students and working hard to ensure this important event could run.

English

Towards the end of Term 2, students in Louise's English class delved into persuasive advertising. This Year 8 class was asked to sell something that no one needs, or something that people wouldn't be able to use.

Emily, Winter and Isobel made a strong case for buying air in a bag.

While Xavier, Rylee and Callum talked everyone through the merits of a weightless bag. With energy conservation in mind, their argument was a convincing one. The pros easily covered over the fact that their bags can't carry anything at all.

Guest Speaker

Sean Taylor (parent) spoke to the Year 10s about his experience trekking to Everest Base Camp and his interactions with the culture and local guides and Sherpas. Students in Year 10 English have been exploring persuasion and gathering information to plan and write a persuasive essay on whether or not people should be allowed to climb Everest or not. We are very grateful to Sean for his time and informative presentation.

Fabulous Fast Food

Keeping the theme of Christmas in July in mind, students in this class were asked to make a recipe of their choice. Some selections may not be typical Christmas fare, however, when all plated up and put together it was a smorgasbord of choice and aesthetically very pleasing.
