New Research and Published Work

Congratulations to Mr James Pengelley, one of our dedicated and passionate teachers, who has recently had a paper published as part of his Master of Education (MEd) research. James's paper, 'A testing load: a review of cognitive load in computer and paper-based learning and assessment', explores how the rising use of technology in classrooms has also brought with it a concomitant wave of computer-based assessments.

His research highlights the efficiency and data management advantages of computer-based assessments, while also exploring the cognitive consequences these tests may have on students. The research paper offers crucial considerations for teachers, test writers and future research and reflects James's commitment to enhancing educational practices and fostering a dynamic learning environment.

His research not only contributes valuable insights to the field of education but also exemplifies the high level of scholarship and dedication he brings to our community every day. Congratulations, James, on this remarkable achievement!

Stunning Strings at Suzuki Concert

David Duff (Year 12, Cello), India Blaxell (Year 9, Violin), Alaia Torralbo Straton (Year 8, Cello), Arielle Lu (Year 6, Cello), and Jason Huang (Year 2, Cello) participated in the Suzuki String Graduation Concert on Saturday 27 July held in the CPA. Former Suzuki Violin graduate Amelia O'Keefe (Year 11) assisted younger students and David with backstage managing.

This is a special concert held annually to celebrate Suzuki students of violin, viola and cello who have graduated at the next level of the repertoire. To graduate, students prepare their pieces to a high level and present them by memory as a solo, for a written report and to receive a Certificate.

This year, special mention goes to Year 12 student David who graduated at Level 9 with a performance of the first movement of Haydn's Cello Concerto in C major.

We congratulate these students on their fine performances and thank the theatre staff for their support.
