A Great Start to Term 3!
Over the past two weeks, I have visited classrooms and observed how happy and eager students are to return to their learning after the holidays. It has been a great start to Term 3 with students demonstrating focus and determination to achieve their learning goals. It has also been a delight to witness students showing kindness and including others during playtime in the yard. Seeing how happy they are to reconnect with friends after the holidays has also been wonderful.
NAIDOC Week
Last week, our students celebrated NAIDOC Week by participating in lessons that honoured and explored the rich culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. This culminated in a special assembly on Friday where our student leaders shared some important information about NAIDOC week, as well as highlighting the achievements of Yorta Yorta /Dja Dja Wurrung woman, Aunty Muriel Bamblett. Some very talented students then shared poems and stories that they had written; sharing their learning and celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture.
Springvale Snow Fest
This Sunday, Springvale will transform into a magical winter wonderland as the Snow Fest takes over the streets. The Springvale Campus JLC Choir will be lucky enough to perform at this event on the main stage, representing Springvale Rise Primary School at this very special community event. Miss Georgia Hammond and Mrs Michelle Sideridis have been rehearsing two wonderful songs with the JLC students. They are very excited to represent our school and share their wonderful voices with our community. You will find them on the main stage, located at the corner of Buckingham Street Avenue and Queens Avenue, at 12 noon on Sunday the 28th of July. JLC students and families, please remember to arrive at 11:30am!
Enjoy the weekend.
