Assistant Principal's Report
It’s been so lovely getting to know everybody and spending time in the classrooms with the students. The Olympics have been a great springboard for activities and lessons. We have had mini-Olympics, where the students compete in activities such as puzzles and try to beat their best time and of course the wonderful Potato Olympic lessons across the school, we have had potatoes sinking, parachuting, diving and jumping! These activities provide a fun way to link science and sports allowing the students to experiment and work on trial and error to get the best results.
Grade 5/6 Everybody workshop
The grade 5/6 students are participating in the Everybody workshops and discussing important topics such as our bodies, changes we can experience in adolescence, body image, consent and more.
An online parent information session was also run by the team last week, discussing the importance of providing these lessons for our young people and advice on how to talk to your child regarding sex.
As a parent, I found the session extremely helpful and wrote down ideas on how to handle this myself when the time comes. I encourage you to watch the clip below, it’s a hilarious clip showing how hard it can be to talk to your children about sex but also reminding us how important it is to do so.

Continuous reporting
As a school, we have moved towards continuous reporting. Continuous reporting is a wonderful way to provide you with recent progress and work samples of a task your child has completed. Please ensure you take the opportunity to look at these with your children so they can share with you their success and the learning they are involved in. A huge thank you to Tristen and Hannah for setting these up and for their work in the background
Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the glorious sun.
