🌟 Year 1 Respectful Relationships: Stress Management 🌟

This week, our Year 1 students delved into the important topic of stress management as part of our Respectful Relationships program. But what is stress? For our young learners, we defined stress as the feeling you get when things are too much to handle. It's like when your body and mind feel a bit overwhelmed. It has been made evident that children who cope better with life’s stressors develop good mental health and wellbeing.

To introduce stress management in a fun and engaging way, the students played a special game where they had to mirror a leader's actions. The twist? The leader kept changing, and each child had to quickly adjust, showing self-control and learning to take charge of their body actions. This activity not only helped them understand stress but also taught them valuable skills in managing their own reactions and staying calm in different environments, such as the classroom.

Our Year 1 students had a fantastic time and gained some great tools for handling stress, all while having fun and supporting each other. We are so proud of their efforts and look forward to continuing our journey in building respectful and resilient relationships. 🌈

  • I liked how it was a fun game and how we did slow motion. We learned what we could do if we feel stressed. Jasmine 1BW
  • We learned about turn taking. It is good to take turns so everyone has a go and it is fair. It helps everyone feel happy in the classroom. Aria 1BW
