The Great Book Swap – Book Week 2024

Dear Families,

As part of our Book Week celebrations in Week 6 (19th-23rd August), The FIRE Carriers are thrilled to announce that our school will be hosting a Great Book Swap!

This event presents a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together, celebrate the joy of reading and contribute to a meaningful cause. By participating in the Great Book Swap, we will be raising much-needed funds for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, an organisation dedicated to providing new, carefully selected books to children in remote communities across Australia.

We kindly ask families to donate quality used books that are in good condition. These books will be available for other students to purchase during the Great Book Swap event for a gold coin donation. Every cent raised from the sale of these books will go directly to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. This is a perfect chance to clear out your shelves and share those unread or gently loved books with others.

Books can be dropped off at the Community Centre (there will be specially marked boxes)at any time leading up to Book Week. We encourage you to take a moment to check your homes, bookshelves, and storage for any books you no longer need that could be donated to this important cause. Every donation, no matter how small, will make a significant impact!

Our goal is to collect as many books as possible to ensure the success of this event and to help the Indigenous Literacy Foundation reach their target of raising $180,000 this year.
