BOOK WEEK

August 19 to 21

Reading is Magic

In honour of Book Week 2024, LHS was excited to offer students a fantastic bundle of activities designed to spark creativity and joy of reading throughout the week.

Dress Up Day

A big THANK YOU to staff and students for dressing up as their favourite book character.

We loved seeing all the amazing costumes, characters and creativity! The enthusiasm was BRILLIANT!

Talk from an Author

Katya de Becerra, visited LHS to talk to a group of students about her creative writing process, editing, generating ideas and getting published.

Students enjoyed hearing her talk about her writing journey and won some prizes along the way.

Book Sale & Sausage Sizzle

We celebrated the last day of Book Week Festivities with a Secondhand Book Sale & Sausage Sizzle at the Resource Centre  at lunchtime.

There was a wide range of books to choose from including fantasy, romance, adventure, inspiring non-fiction, mystery and crime, picture books, classic literature and more!

The aroma of sizzling sausages filled the air, drawing students and staff in from all corners of the school.

All money raised from the day will be donated to Reading Out of Poverty, a wonderful initiative that promotes literacy and education in underprivileged communities.

Visit from

Bridget Vallence MP

LHS was grateful to Bridget for her valuable contribution to the Book Week festivities. Her presence and participation helped inspire a love for reading and literature!

Keep on Reading!

Even though Book Week 2024 has ended, remember that every day can be a book day! Keep diving into your favourite stories and let your imagination run wild!
