The Parliament Prize 2024

1st Place - Sigourney Crocker 8B

"This year, a number of LHS students participated in a competition called the Parliament Prize. This is a statewide contest to share what you would say to parliament if you were an MP. I chose to present a 90 second speech on recycling in Victorian schools, as I see this as a very important issue.

Iam honoured to let you know that I have WON First Prize in the Years 7-9 category.

This means that I get to attend a ceremony at the Victorian Parliament House on Monday 12th August, and also receive cash prizes for both the school and myself. I hope that this will lead to some increased focus on recycling at our fabulous school."

Sigourney Crocker 8B

Congratulations Sigourney, this is a wonderful achievement. An incredible 1,126 entries were submitted from across Victoria for the competition.

Year 8 Adventure Camp

Wednesday August 28

Year 8 students had the fantastic opportunity to embark on a memorable day at the scenic Oasis Camp in Mt Evelyn.

They participated in an array of exhilarating activities, each designed to ignite their sense of adventure and camaraderie. From the adrenaline-pumping flying fox and the exciting low ropes course to the thrilling laser tag battles and the hands-on candle making experience, the day was filled with moments of joy and excitement.

The students also had the chance to gain a deeper understanding of nature through a fascinating reptile experience and bush walk. Additionally, they honed their focus and precision during the archery session and tested their strength and determination on the rock climbing wall.

This day not only offered a thrilling escape from routine but also served as a vital platform for students to cultivate their confidence, resilience, meaningful social connections and physical health and wellbeing.
