Dear Families,
It is that busy time of year that all teachers love, report writing. We are currently finalising Semester One reports ready to be shared with families next Thursday. Our Student-Led Conferences will be an opportunity for parents to discuss their children's progress not just with the class teachers, but with the children themselves. Student-led conferences are meetings where your child takes the lead in sharing their learning progress, achievements, and goals with you. Instead of the teacher doing all the talking, your child will explain what they’ve been working on, what they’re proud of, and where they want to improve. The teacher is there to support and guide the conversation, but the focus is on your child taking ownership of their learning. It is a great way to see how your child is growing, both academically and personally. Please take the time to book a meeting time with your child's teacher as well as reading their report before hand. The teaching staff will be ready to answer any questions you have once your child has shared their learning journey for Semester One. Don't forget that the work samples on Seesaw are there to support the end of semester reports. If you are having difficulty accessing your child's Seesaw profile, please let their class teacher know.
Attendance
Our final assembly for Term 2 will be on Monday 3oth June at 9.00 in the hall. We love to have family members join us on these occasions. During this assembly, attendance awards will also be handed out. Students who have achieved 100% attendance for the semester will be celebrated, as well as those whose attendance improved over term 2. Every day really does count as far as attendance is concerned. Your child’s attendance will be included in their Semester One report. I'd like to share a helpful perspective: attending school 80% of the time means your child is missing about one day each week. If this pattern continues into Semester Two, it adds up to around 8 weeks of school—almost a full term.
I understand that there are valid reasons for absences. Some families may need to travel overseas to visit loved ones, and some children may have medical needs that require time away from school. I also want to reassure you that we’re not asking you to send your child to school when they’re unwell.
Our goal is to work together to support your child’s learning and wellbeing. If you have any questions or need support around attendance, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Student Free Days
We do have a number of student free days at the end of this term and beginning of next term. Please know that this doesn't mean we are extending the school holidays for staff - we will be continuing to work hard, just without the students on site. Tuesday 1st July is designated for Student-Led Conferences. Term 2 ends for the children on Thursday 3rd July as the staff will be undertaking professional learning in Religious Education on Friday 4th July. Term 3 wil commence for students on Wednesday 23rd July. The staff will be undertaking professional learning in Student Wellbeing and Learning and Teaching with a focus on the new Victorian Curriculum 2.0 in readiness for full implementation in 2026.
Enrolments for 2026 are filling up
If you have a child due to start school in 2026 and haven't yet picked up an enrolment pack, please pop into the office for one. If you have friends who are currently deciding on a school for their child, we are open for tours! Our classes are filling up for 2026 so we strongly encourage families to get their enrolment forms in as soon as possible.
