Student Semester 1 Reports

Our teachers are currently finalising the Semester 1 reports for their students. Prior to beginning report writing, teachers complete student assessments and compare evidence of learning via moderation and then link this evidence to the Victorian Curriculum 2.0. Evidence of learning consists of things that students say, make, write or do that communicate their understanding of concepts and mastery of skills. Teachers use this evidence to make judgments about each student’s achievements.

Student Reports will be available on-line on Compass on Friday 27 June after 4pm, in readiness for the Student/Parent/Teacher Conferences on Wednesday 2 July. Take the time to read your child’s report prior to the Student Led Conference. This will assist in your understanding of your child’s progress and enable you to clarify any questions you may have with your child’s teacher at the Conference.

This will be an alternate school day, beginning at 11.00am and finishing at 7.30pm. Students will not attend classes at school but are required to take part in the conference with their parent and teacher to discuss their learning. Students, parents and teachers working together is an important part of our reporting process.

After the conference:

Keep in regular contact with your child’s teacher and follow up on any mutually agreed plans.

Continue to support your child with their learning at home – provide a space for them to work and develop a routine for them after school with a regular time to do their homework.

Focus on the suggestions in your child’s report outlining what you can do at home to assist them with their learning.

Talk with your child about their learning which was discussed at the conference.

You can also request a further meeting with your child’s teacher at an agreed time if you are concerned about your child's progress.

Greenvale Primary School is a Child Safe School

Our aim is to ensure that all members of the Greenvale Primary School Community (including school employees, contractors, volunteers, parents, families and visitors) have a commitment to keeping all children safe from harm in all physical and online school environments including excursions and camps.

All organisations regulated or funded by government that provide services for children are required to work towards compliance with the Child Safe Standards. This includes government and non-government schools, education and care services.

Organisations that provide services for children that have limited or no funding or regulatory relationship with government are included also. This includes religious organisations, sport and recreation groups and coaching and tuition services for children.

All members of School Council are required to sign our Code of Conduct as do volunteers, tradespeople and visitors into our school when signing in on our iPad at reception. You can read this policy on our school website.

All staff, volunteers, visitors, and School Council members of Greenvale Primary School (GPS) are required to observe child safe principles and expectations for appropriate behaviour towards and in the company of children, as noted below.

  • adhering to the GPS child safe policy at all times / upholding GPS statement of commitment to child safety at all time
  • taking all reasonable steps to protect children from abuse
  • treating everyone with respect
  • listening and responding to the views and concerns of children, particularly if they are telling you that they or another child has been abused and/or are worried about their safety or the safety of another
  • promoting the diversity cultural safety, participation and empowerment of children
  • promoting the safety, participation and empowerment of children with a disability (for example, during personal care activities)
  • ensuring as far as practicable that adults who are with a child are in view of others
  • reporting any allegations of child abuse to any of GPS’s Principal Class Officers and ensure any allegation to be reported to the police or child protection
  • reporting any child safety concerns to any of GPS’s Principal Class Officers
  • ensuring as quickly as possible that the child(ren) are safe if an allegation of child abuse is made,
  • encouraging children to ‘have a say’ and participate in all relevant organisational activities where possible, especially on issues that are important to them.

New Staff Member

Hello Greenvale Primary families!

I’m Olivia (Miss Davis), and I’m very excited to introduce myself as the new Foundation Teacher of OCC for the remainder of 2025. I’ve previously taught at St. Martin de Porres School in Laverton, and I’m really looking forward to bringing my experience to the school community here in Greenvale. I’m eager to get to know all of you and the students. Please feel free to say hello when you see me around!

Congratulations!

Congratulations to Caitlin Cristallini and her husband Ed on the early arrival of Tommie. Tommie arrived on 6 June, 10 weeks earlier than expected, weighing a mere 1.76 kgs.

Despite still being in hospital, Tommie is progressing really well, having moved from a humidicrib to a regular open hospital cot and being able to wear real clothes.

We all look forward to meeting him.

Free Tables and Chairs

We have some Foundation sized old tables and chairs that we no longer require.

If you would like any of these, please contact the office before the end of term.

They just need a bit of a clean up as they have been stored outside under a covered way.

Food for Thought:
