Middle/Senior School Update

It has been quite a busy week in the Middle and Senior areas this week! Years 3 and 4 had a Science incursion on Tuesday, and the Year 5 and 6s have had the Netball and Soccer Lightning Premierships.

Year 3 and 4 Science Incursion with FizzKidz

On Tuesday, Year 3 and 4 had an awesome Science incursion about forces with Fizz Kids!

Students got hands-on and creative as they each made their own parachute, testing how air resistance works. They also worked in teams to design and build a marble run, thinking about speed, slope, and friction.

It was a fantastic way to bring our learning to life—and there were lots of smiles, teamwork, and “aha!” moments along the way!

Netball Lightning Premiership Reflections

Loudly, the whistle screeched as the first quarter kicked off! Sorry, got a bit carried away there…On Wednesday, the mixed netball team from St Joseph’s played at the Lightning Premiership at Dunkin Micinen Netball Courts. It was an amazing day, and everyone played so well.

So well we made it to the grand finals!

Sadly, we had a loss. But in the end, it is so good to always try something new!

WhOoShHh was the sound of the wind on the crisp morning. On Wednesday, we had the Netball Lightning Premiership, and it was a very cold morning! When we got there, we found out all the information about the games and we started. I didn't think we would be very good, but we had a bunch of gun players! A lot of games passed by, and we were undefeated until one tie. WE MADE IT TO THE GRAND FINAL! We lost, but it was all so fun.

On Wednesday, the Year 5 and 6 netballers went to the Lightning Premiership. All of us tried our very best with amazing sportsmanship. The refs were really good, we had Max's mum for most of our games, which was a great help to our team. We made it to the netball mixed grand final against Sacred Heart! Although we came second, we tried our hardest with amazing passes and had a great time.

Whoosh! The ball whizzes through the air as fast as a bullet. On the 18th of June 2025, we went to the Lightning Premiership to represent St Joseph's for netball. It was an amazing experience, and our team did so well. On the bus on the way there, I was filled with excitement. I enjoyed having fun with my teammates and also scored some goals! Our teamwork and cooperation was amazing.

I went to the Netball Lightning Premiership on Wednesday, and I was mainly GK (Goalkeeper). It was great socialising with other schools and I saw some old friends. Our team was REALLY good, Max was GA (Goal attack), and he shot so many goals! We got through to the Grand Finals, and we lost, but we were second out of 10 schools!

At the Netball Lightning Premiership on Wednesday, we placed second!

It was very fun and I bet we all enjoyed it.

It was a great experience.

In netball, I played GS (Goal Shooter) in the games. I’m really happy that my team and I got up to the grand final against Sacred Heart. Everyone did excellently and I’m looking forward to next year! The other schools that we faced were so good, and I hope that I can go against them again.

On Wednesday, Years 5 and 6 had the amazing opportunity to play in the Netball Lightning Premiership down at Duncan McKinnon. It was a beautiful day, with some clouds and the perfect weather for netball. In our first game, I was a bit nervous, but that all went away when I realised I was playing really well. We smashed the whole day by winning most of our games and then making it into the semifinal by coming in 2nd place on the ladder. We won the semifinal by a mile! And then we made it into the final, the big game. We were playing against 1st on the ladder, Sacred Heart. We scored a lot of goals at the start of the game, but Sacred Heart then caught up and won by goals. Even though we lost, I still had a great time playing netball!
