Junior School Update

Visual Arts in the Junior School

Term Two Topic: Collage

Art Elements Explored: Shape, Texture

This term our junior students have delved into the magical world of collage! We have had a wonderful time using an array of materials and exploring different collaging techniques.

Students have engaged in sequential skills based sessions to develop key collaging techniques and have had time to practise these prior to applying them to their finished artworks.

Throughout the term we have explored the following materials…

Coloured paper, foil, felt, pipe cleaners, match sticks, sand, icy pole sticks, glitter

paper, tissue paper, cellophane, natural materials and many more!

Our art has been inspired by the famous collages by Jeanie Baker along with the iconic Henri Hatisse.

Thank you to all of the wonderful junior school parents for helping your children go on their nature treasure hunt to collect natural materials. This was very much appreciated and the students loved using these at school.

The Junior school is very much looking forward to their ‘Free Choice’ collaging activity in week 11. Their homework is to come up with an idea. Students may select to collage their pet, their friend, a family member, the school, their house, a favourite landscape or a magical land.

As always in the art room a photo tells a thousand words, enjoy the pictures.
