School Captains

Welcome to week 9!!!

Hello everyone, here is a quick update on what’s been happening this week and the last couple of weeks.

Last week, we had the sad passing of our beloved Mrs Moore. Her family and her loved ones are always in our thoughts and prayers.

This week, Year 5 and 6 had the Netball Lightning Premiership on Wednesday and the Soccer Lightning Premiership on Thursday. A big thanks to Ms Birch for taking up her time to organise the lightning premierships, we couldn't do it without you.

We also had an open day on Tuesday to welcome future parents and students. It was great for them to see how incredible our school is, and our school leaders represented everyone extremely well.

Last week, we had our Year 2’s run an assembly and teach everyone about our country and especially Uluru.

In Year 6, we have exciting news. We have a new leadership role to announce: The Green Team! Represented by Stella, Max, Maximilian and Jamie. Last week, they went on an excursion to CERES to learn about sustainability and the container deposit scheme. We’ll be hearing more them them in the weeks to come.

Art

By Sienna and Stella

In Art, our main focus has been on performing arts and the production! Most of our lead actors have received their costumes and have been working very hard. We have made amazing progress with our acting, and everyone puts their all into their singing. The costumes are very intricate and well-designed, and overall, we have been having a blast!

STEM

By  Jamie and Maximillian

In STEM, we have covered many topics over the course of the term, and our knowledge has grown exponentially since the start of the year! We truly have learnt all the aspects of STEM during this term. At the start of the term, we learnt a lot about technology and engineering as we learnt how to code using Scratch, and we learnt about how circuit boards work. We have also covered the science topic this term by learning about buoyancy and how to make boats. We have also learnt about how people get genes from their parents and about dominant and recessive genes. Another thing that we learnt about is hovercrafts and how they work and how they’re used.

Sports Captains

Green Team: Lucy, Max and Victor

Winter sport

In Winter Sports this year, we played football and netball.  We had a lot of fun! We got to play 6 games in total, and we all had a lot of fun. In the footy, we won three games and lost three games, which was very good! A special thanks goes to all the Year 4s who helped support our netball and footy teams this term.

Red Team: Alfred, Oscar and Pip

PE Clinics

This term we have done a lot of clinics in PE to help us practise for Inter-School Sports and the Lightning Premierships. They have helped us understand how to play, and it has helped us improve our skills a lot, so we are better prepared to play footy and netball.

We have had a footy clinic and a netball clinic, and next we might have a soccer one, too. If you ask us, we think they have made us so much better. In footy, we have been winning a lot more than last year. Thanks to Ms Birch for organising the clinics!

Yellow Team: Bekim and Charlotte

Supporting the Preps in PE

This term, the Prepies have participated in a variety of sports activities with their class.

A big shout out to our young Prep students for their wonderful listening skills and sportsmanship, especially to Holly, who still (carefully!) took part in the lesson with a broken arm! The Preps have been learning multiple skills, such as throwing and catching and even self-defence skills. It’s been a pleasure helping with the Preps’ Sport lessons, and the Sport Captains are looking forward to helping them next term, too!.
