🌟 Welcome to Term 3 🌟

Welcome back! We hope all families had a safe, restful break. We’re looking forward to a vibrant and productive Term 3, filled with meaningful learning experiences, special events, and opportunities for students to explore new ideas.

This term, students will continue to deepen their understanding across all subject areas through a range of engaging and hands-on activities. From inquiry-based projects like our Discovery focus on Australian inventors and innovations, to interschool sports, classroom challenges, and community celebrations, there’s so much to look forward to.

Students have returned with great energy and a positive attitude, and we’re proud of how quickly they’ve settled back into their routines. As always, we appreciate your continued support and look forward to another term of growth, fun, and learning together.

Reading 📚

In Reading, we are all exploring the book Coles Book Arcade. Students have been learning how to identify the main idea in sections of the text or whole chapters. Alongside this, they have been developing detailed character profiles to understand personalities, motivations, and relationships between characters. We have also been making text-to-self, text-to-text, and text-to-world connections, helping students relate the story to their own experiences and broader contexts. Additionally, students have been practising making inferences — using clues from the text, combined with their own knowledge, to deepen comprehension and think critically about the author’s message and themes

Adabelle R: I personally think that the book is very interesting and different to what I was thinking it was going be. I found it to be good book, let's wait and see if my thoughts will be the same at the end of the book. Some of the main characters in the book are: Mr Cole, Pearl, Valley, Ruby, Eddie, Linda and finally Ivy.

Australian Inventors 💡

Over the past four weeks, our students have been exploring the fascinating world of Australian inventors and their innovations. They’ve been researching inventions that were created to solve real-life problems and improve everyday life, from household items to world-changing technology like Wi-Fi and the black box flight recorder.

Students have been investigating who the inventor was, what their invention does, and how it has made a difference both in Australia and around the world. So far, we’ve seen great progress in their research, note-taking, and presentation skills.

With four weeks still to go, students will continue developing their projects and begin preparing to present their findings in creative and engaging ways. We’re looking forward to seeing their final work and celebrating all they have learned!

Interschool Sport Update – Mixed Netball Success!

A huge congratulations to our Mixed Netball team, who proudly represented the Coburg District at the Inner North/Merri-bek Division Finals. The team showed incredible skill and teamwork, winning three games and drawing one, an outstanding achievement!

Thanks to their fantastic performance, the team has now qualified to compete at the Northern Regional Netball Finals, where they will represent the Inner North/Merri-bek Division. The event will take place on Tuesday, 19th August at the Diamond Valley Sports Complex.

We are so proud of all the boys, girls, and Ms Barmby for their dedication, sportsmanship, and determination. We wish them the very best of luck as they take on the next exciting challenge!

We’d love to see families and supporters there on the day to cheer them on, parents and carers are warmly welcome to attend and show their support! Goodluck to our team at Regionals, we’re all behind you!

Softball and Bat tennis District finals will be held in term 4, more information will be sent out via Compass once Mr Rees receives it.

Glenroy Science Excursion

This week we were very fortunate to have a small group of grade 6 students invited to Glenroy College to experience several experiments led by year 10 students studying pharmacology in collaboration with RMIT.

We are so proud of how the student conducted themselves. Their behaviour and the knowledge they already possessed on the topic impressed out hosts.

Years 3–6 Athletics Carnival 🏃‍♂️🏅

Our Years 3–6 Athletics Carnival was a fantastic day filled with energy, enthusiasm, and team spirit, even with a little rain throughout the day! Students proudly dressed in their house colours, bringing colour and excitement to the track as they participated in a variety of events including sprints, triple jump, high jump, shot put, and more.

It was wonderful to see students giving their best effort, encouraging their peers, and showing great sportsmanship and resilience, even when the weather was less than perfect. The cheering, teamwork, and positive attitudes on display were a true credit to our school community.

A big thank you to Mr Rees for his excellent organisation of the day and to our staff, parent helpers, and volunteers for helping everything run so smoothly. We also thank the families who came along to cheer from the sidelines. Well done to all students for representing their houses with pride, rain or shine, you made it a day to remember!
