R.E. NEWS

First Eucharist

This Sunday 22nd June our candidates will receive the Eucharist for the first time. Please keep these students in your prayers as they take this very special step in their faith journey.

Candidates:  Please arrive by 8.50am, ready to begin at 9.00am.

In addition to the regular collection during Mass, we have been advised that there will be a ST VINCENT DE PAUL SPECIAL COLLECTION at the weekend Masses this weekend. We appreciate any contribution that you can give. Donations will go directly to our local community. The parish will have a door collection and will have EFTPOS facilities available.

St. Vincent de Paul, Winter Appeal Fundraiser

Our main fundraiser for the St. Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal is our much-loved annual PJ Day on the last day of term (Thursday 3rd July). We look forward to wearing our winter pj's, oodies and onesies to celebrate the winter school holidays, whilst also remembering how fortunate we are to have warm clothes, warm homes and a loving community. Please give generously to this worthy cause via Compass or by gold coin donation on the day. Our target this year is to raise $1,000 for the Appeal!  Help us to make a difference.

Note: Crocs or slides are not permitted as they are unsafe on the playground.

Kindergarten Visit to the Church

Our Kindergarten classes will be visiting the church on Monday 30th June (Week 10). They will travel by bus with their classroom teachers to learn all about our church from Father Roel and Mrs Clarke.

Advanced Notice:

Our Grandparents Day celebrations will be held at the Primary Campus on Friday 25th July (Friday, Week 1 - Term 3). We will begin with a Liturgy in the Hall at 10.00am, followed by morning tea in the grounds.

Mrs Clarke will be creating a slideshow of photos - please send photos through to sclarke@arm.catholic.edu.au before the end of this term - no later than Friday 4th July.

Our next Family Mass (K, 3 & 6) will be held on Sunday 27th July at 9.00am to further celebrate our Grandparents with the Parish community. Please mark this date in your calendar.

LIBRARY

Author in Residence - Gregg Dreise - Next Week!!!

We are incredibly excited to welcome award-winning author, illustrator, and storyteller Gregg Dreise to our school next Wednesday 25th June for a special visit. As a proud Kamilaroi and Euahlayi man, Gregg shares powerful messages about culture, kindness, and respect through his engaging stories and vibrant artwork. Each grade will get the chance to meet and listen to Gregg for a 1 hour session.  This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn from his rich storytelling tradition and celebrate the wisdom of Indigenous culture. You can find out more about Gregg on his website https://www.greggdreise.com.au/

NSW Premier's Reading Challenge

We are very excited to give the students at St Edward’s Primary School the opportunity to participate in the 2025 NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge. This is a proud tradition at St Edward’s, and every student is invited wholeheartedly to participate.

Every student at the Infants Campus will automatically be signed up for the challenge and read books from the challenge as part of their class and library sessions.

Primary students wanting to participate in this year's challenge will need to see Mrs Michell in the library to sign up.

Login details will be handed out to all primary students who are participating in this year's challenge. If your child has not received their login details, please ask them to come and see Mrs Michell in the library or email cmichell@arm.catholic.edu.au

Students can start logging their books today using this link

https://online.education.nsw.gov.au/prc/studentExperience.html#/

Students are encouraged to log onto the PRC website from home to log their books, or Mrs Michell can log them in the library. Students should now start to log books they have read and also discover books that are part of the PRC using the link above. If you have any problems with logging books or access, please reach out.

The Challenge runs until Friday, 22nd August, 2025. Students can join at any time, but the end date remains the same.

PLEASE NOTE!! Any books on the list that your child has read (or you have read to your child for K - 2) over the summer holidays can be counted for this year’s Challenge.

SORA - Get free eBooks and audiobooks from your school

We encourage students to continue reading during the school holidays. St Edward's students have access to SORA, an online library offering a wide range of eBooks, audiobooks, and magazines. To log in from home, students will need their school email address and password, which can be obtained from their teacher. Below are instructions for logging into SORA.
