As Term 2 comes to a close, we give thanks for the growth, learning and joy that has taken place. It has been wonderful to celebrate student achievements across all areas. Throughout the term, our Monday assemblies have focused on the theme of blessing others, encouraging students to reflect on how they can make a positive impact in their class, at school and also at home.
As we head into the holiday break, we pray for a restful and refreshing time for all our students, families and staff.
Here are some student reflections from the term:
I have loved doing math this term. - Hudson B
I really enjoyed the Art Exhibition - Alexis G
I loved making new friends from other schools at GLS Next Gen - Katie E
It was really fun to make ice cream, jelly and spiders in our science unit - Hannah C

On Tuesday morning, the Jiloa Centre was filled with kings, queens, pawns and students as DCS hosted their first chess tournament. Seven schools in the Devonport area came to participate, from Primary through to College students. It was a fun morning of intense concentration and great sportsmanship. Vivaan came 1st overall and Aiden came 2nd overall for Primary. Well done!
I love playing chess. I grew up in a chess family. My dad used to play chess and I like playing with him. - Aiden F
This is my first chess tournament. I love it because it uses my brain. I have a wooden chess board at home and I play against my mum and dad. - Mia B
I have played in school tournaments and Australian championships. It is fun for the challenge and getting points for my school. I love that the tournament was held at my school this time. - Vivaan G
