Sparking Young Imaginations In Writing
Our Year 1/2 students have been diving into the magical world of storytelling developing thier narrative writing skills. To help bring their imaginations to life and build descriptive vocabulary, our students explored narrative writing in a creative way.
Before putting pencil to paper, students began by making their own story characters out of clay. This hands on activity helped students think deeply about what their characters might look like, how they might behave, and what adventures they could go on.
Next, students drew their story settings. The illustrations were bursting with colour and detail. Creating these visual scenes helped our young writers imagine where their stories would take place and gave them a strong sense of atmosphere and mood.
With characters in hand and settings brought to life through art, students then planned and wrote their narratives. They were encouraged to use descriptive vocabulary describing not just what happened in their stories, but how it looked, felt, and sounded. Our Year 1/2 students should be proud of their hard work and their wonderful imaginations!
This week our Prep students listened to the story "The Paper Dolls"by Julia Donaldson. Using connections made with this story, the students drew pictures and wrote key words to plan their own story before writing their narrative. Look at our youngest authors in action.
Exploring Angles - Maths in Year 3/4
This week, our Year 3/4 students have been busy becoming angle experts in Maths! To help them understand right angles in a fun and practical way, they’ve been using protractors and getting hands on with their learning.
Students discovered that right angles are all around us. They also used protractors to carefully measure right angles. By using these tools, students developed a stronger understanding of what a right angle looks like and how to measure it accurately. The hands on approach helped bring abstract concepts to life and built confidence with geometry in a meaningful way.
