Last Thursday, Year 12’s were invited to the auditorium during lunch time to listen to a guest speaker from Youthrive Victoria. Youthrive Victoria provides opportunities for young rural Victorians to build knowledge, skills, leadership capacity and aspirations. They also provide scholarships, development opportunities, mentoring, aspiration building workshops, virtual connections and wrap around care for young people.
Their services span three key streams of Scholarships, Program delivery and Alumni network. Program delivery includes the Rural Youth Network, Dream Seeds transition programs, Branch Out Mentoring and leadership development programs and events. We advise anyone who missed this presentation to explore the Youthrive website for more information.
Well done to those VCE students who completed their GAT Exam last week. It was wonderful to see students working with motivation to achieve their personal best. The purpose of the GAT Examination is to measure literacy and numeracy skills, in addition to assisting with quality assurance for VCE purposes. Although most students did well, there were a small number of students that arrived quite late and without the appropriate equipment. These students need to make the necessary improvements in these areas for the end of year exams. The way you approach the GAT can often be used as a metaphor of what will happen in real life. Don’t be late to work and make sure you go to work with all the necessary equipment to do a good day’s work. Bring a positive attitude and always do your absolute best.
Congratulations to Yolande and the School and House Captains for organising a wonderful day of activities which included tug of war, musical chairs, tunnel ball and the sock relay.
A reminder that Year 12 students will be spending three periods at the Western Victorian Careers Expo next Tuesday July 1st. Timetabled classes will run as per usual for Periods 1, 5 & 6. Please note that as canteen options are limited at the Careers Expo, so students are encouraged to bring their own snacks, water and lunch. Full school uniform must be worn.
As we approach the end of semester one, it is essential that students are up to date with their classwork and complete redemptions as required. Teachers will be supporting students to help achieve this. Many are eagerly anticipating the end of term. It is important to recognise the importance of rest and self-care over the two weeks. Term 3 is always a busy time for Year 12 students as they work to complete their last full term at school.
Wishing you all a safe and refreshing break!
