Junior School

Term 1 Overview

JUNIOR SCHOOL- TERM 2

Junior Campus Captains' Address

Ishmay Jewana (8C) and Munazza Ajaz (8F)

THis term was a memorable term in our school calendar, due to a number of new beginnings and events that we have never done before.

This term, we have been privileged to go to the Shrine of Remembrance to represent the College and pay our respects by laying a wreath at the base of the shrine. This was important because we were able to learn about ANZAC day and the meaning behind the commemorations.

As a year 8 cohort, we were lucky enough to travel down to our local shopping centre to enjoy some delicious food, in order to prepare us for our food writing task for English. We liked this because we could eat our favourite foods and we had a lot of agency surrounding our food- based decisions. This then assisted us to write really detailed pieces for this task.

I, Ishmay was really honoured to represent the school at the WynSpeak competition at Hoppers Crossing Secondary College, alongside Chenul Henasinghe in Year 7. I spoke about AI and why it is stopping us from thinking. Chenul spoke about music as a personal influence. I was delighted to win the impromptu section.

In Term 3, we are really looking forward to Athletics Day and being able to share this with our friends at the Senior Campus. We also are excited to announce our public speaking competition that will also be happening this term.

On behalf of the Junior School Student Leaders, have a safe and happy holiday break.

Victorian State Schools Spectacular Update

Our talented Dance cast have been working hard in preparation for this year’s State Schools Spectacular! After three high-energy hub rehearsals at Saltwater P-9 College, they’re gearing up for the big regional rehearsal next month, where they’ll join schools from across Melbourne. They’ve already wowed our school community with two fantastic assembly performances, proudly showcasing our college value of Excellence. We can’t wait for them to take the stage at John Cain Arena in September!

Student Leadership Forum

This term we had the opportunity to meet with the Senior Campus Student Leadership Team to work on upcoming ideas for the whole school. We were working with each other on word puzzles and challenging each other with some ideas that we had. We did some team building, found out what kind of leaders we were together to utilise our skills better and know each other's strengths and areas to support.

From this day we started to plan our small wins so that we could use our newly learnt skills and apply these to creating actionable projects. Some of the small wins this term are:

Achievement Wall: This wall showcases different students work around the school.

Respect Poster: This

Environmental Day:

Wellbeing Week: As part of this week

From these small wins we will start to look at bigger events next semester and more learning to start developing these ideas now that we have an understanding of all the steps to take.

Term 2 and 3 Junior School- Continued expectations

Dear Students and Families,

Thank you for a brilliant Term 2 at the Junior Campus. It has been a pleasure to see our students continue to grow in their studies and connections with one another.

As we continue to move into Term 3, we will continue our high expectations, guided by our College values of Respect, Excellence, Community and Innovation. We would like to acknowledge the continued hard work of our students and their families in continuing to uphold these values at our College and in the wider community.

The Junior Sub-school team would like to thank students for continuing to wear the College uniform with pride—both within and beyond school grounds. The uniform acts as  a visible expression of commitment to our shared values, as outlined above.

Next term,  consistency in attendance remains a strong focus as this ensures students are ready to engage fully in their learning.

As we approach the holiday period, we remind students of the importance of maintaining high standards in their use of technology. Digital platforms, while offering valuable opportunities for learning and communication, also require responsible and respectful behaviour. We expect all students to engage online in a manner that upholds the values of our College. Students are encouraged to think carefully before posting or sharing content and to use technology in ways that reflect positively on themselves and the College community.

On behalf of the Junior Sub-school team, please have a safe and happy holiday break.
